I found a stray cat, Googled it says open, arrived to see appointment only. Called several times no answer. I did the right thing and now get to drive around trying to find somewhere to take this stray cat.

This organization has been around for 10 years! Still to this day, 14-Jan-2019, they do not have proper feline housing. They are housed in old plastic dog crates that notoriously for hold and breed virus and bacterial and due to the texture cannot be suitably sanitized between those incarcerated. Yet they have the funds to take from your hard earned DONATIONS to add a garage, expand the office and purchase vehicles. All capital expenses your tax dollars should be used for, not your donation intend to benefit the animals for the mental stimulation of the animals, rehabilitation, medical care or socializing. This organization (or lack thereof) is very disturbing. They have a history of gas chambers, lying to the community, cover ups, failure of accountability to the community, lack of community services and when questioned regarding their annual statement, not acknowledged, no audit, no report of findings. This a poorly run facility hung up in a bureaucratic nightmare leaving animals to suffer. Thank you for those who adopt from them to get those poor creatures out of their clutches. The old guard needs to go! I would not surrender my pet rock to this organization. I would grade them with a zero degree of satisfactory if the option were available.

Great people, the pets are well taken care of by the volunteers. I adopted a cat formerly known as Jerry, he's a fierce hunter and a good cuddler.

Volunteered here (when it was still the Shelter of Hope) when I was in high school. Staff and volunteers as well as the animal control team all showed the utmost care towards the animals in the shelter at the time. Would recommend for anyone looking to add a new furry addition to their home, or those who are looking for a good place to get volunteer hours.

The shelter and staff seemed nice enough, the only issue I had was that they advertised on both their website, and kijiji that they had cats and kittens for adoption, which led to my boyfriend and I driving there from Whitby. When we got there, after looking at the cats, and picking a kitten we wanted to adopt, we found out that there was not a single feline in the entire shelter that was actually adoptable. We were told to come back in 2-4 weeks (depending on the cat), and try our luck then. They weren't willing to do the paperwork then, to at least ensure that making the trip for a second time would be worth it, even after we explained that we lived nearly an hour away, and had to be careful which cat we got, because we already had one.Aside from that issue, everything seemed fine, but we both agreed there was no point in going back, especially since the website is not a reliable way to find out what animals they have available for adoption.

We have rescued several dogs there over a 10yr span...the one complaint about it not being clean....so not true and you can always volunteer if you feel that way.All dogs have been great, staff are loving, caring and very knowledgeable and kind.

A little stray female dog wandered into our yard June 21/2020.Cute little thing but we couldn't keep her.We took her to animal services on Theatre road. Met Margaret, very nice lady.Hope they are able to find the owner, or get her adopted to a good home.
