I cannot believe how incredibly insensitive and tone deaf the OAO is, to continue to put in place a denial of service to children who have been targeted by COVID, prevented from attending schools and now that they can do so, they cannot get their eyecare needs addressed. Every optometrist in Ontario should be ashamed of themselves if they follow this voluntary job action, targeting children and seniors. Shame on you all! Too bad there isn't an option for zero stars, you don't deserve one..

It hurts optometrists to their core not to see the patients they were trained to treat.I want to know if anyone who is calling optometrists insensitive, or tone deaf because they had had to stop seeing patients in order to get the Ministry of Health to take them seriously…can you predict what would happen if your workplace continuously provided a product, but the buyers paid less than it cost to make the product? If the orders you fulfilled continued to grow, and you worked harder and harder, but payment was always short? I’ll tell you, your employer would go out of business. You would be unemployed. Your service would cease to exist.Would you like optometrists’ offices to start shuttering because they can’t pay the cost to perform exams on people who make up the largest portion of their patient base? The OAO is trying to prevent this. Sign the petition at saveeyecare.ca, write your MPP, tweet #SaveEyeCare.

Thank you to the OAO for all your hard work. Although the public may not understand the job action it is being done in the best interest of those who are being denied service because if we don’t make this service sustainable everyone will suffer Far more in the long term. Keep up the good work!

Thank you OAO for your tireless work trying to save eyecare for the people of Ontario. They deserve the best and they can't get that on the current OHIP coverage that is 32 years out of date. Hopefully the government will wake up and realize that their inaction is doing a disservice to Ontarians.

Thank you to the OAO for fighting for #saveeyecare in Ontario. People in Ontario who don’t understand or listen to the governments lies can’t see that this fight is for them. There can be no eye care without optometrist, and if The Ministry of Health continues to disrespect and severely under pay their Optometrists there will be no more Optometrists left in this province in another 30years. Last I checked no other profession is expected to pay to do their job. When other provinces pay at minimum the COST OF SERVICE and an actual salary, who in their right mind would chose to practice in Ontario? Thank you OAO for standing up for Optometrist so they won’t have to pay to work any longer!
