Buffaloland Park
Park should be re-named since these are bison, not buffalo! Don't come during noon or very hot days- you want it around 20-28 degrees so the bison feel comfy wandering the grounds. Very easy going, come in and park in a grassy spot, walk around the grounds to find the herd. There's a lookout in the middle section, to get a better view if the bison herd is not close to the external fence. Very peaceful, great stop for a half-hour to an hour. No shade or amenities, but really amazing to see on the island. Bison babies FTW!

When going there you should remember it is a sanctuary, not a zoo. So there is a chance that buffalo will not be visible. We found only 3 sighting spots, may be there are more. No map though. Overall, magical animals and it was worth going.

This trip we were able to see the buffalo! Sometimes they are in different areas where you can't see them. They were noble, ancient-seeming and majestic! It's wonderful that the monks care for them.

Have loved going to watch the buffalo since I was a little girl. Now I get to share the same experience with my children! The buffalo are amazing animals!

We have been on the Island 16 months and until today only have seen the evidence that these majestic beasts exist. Well today we were blessed seeing the herd. I cannot wait to see the again. They were beautiful ❤️

Buffaloland Park
It's free and was nice to watch the buffalo just being. The park is a short drive through trail where you can park and get out to look at the buffalo, then pack back in your car and continue. I wish there was a plaque with interesting facts or something for kids to read. I was curious about who takes care of them or how this area came to be. I think it's a great idea and was a quick little trip along the way to another activity.
