Sugar Marmalade

I used to love this place with all my heart back in 2016–19. I would go to Sugar Marmalade on every possible occasion. Unfortunately, leading up to the pandemic, the quality took a major hit and this location hasn’t seemed to recover since… their cutlet dishes that used to be juicy and tender are now rubbery, their popcorn chicken I used to be obsessed with is fatty and gristly, the fries that used to be so golden and crispy now resemble reheated frozen mccain fries. There are only a few things keeping this place alive in my memories — first, the takoyaki is still amazing here, easily my favourite in the whole city. Second, the fancy drink menu is varied and super delicious. Third, the desserts have remained fantastic. I’ve loved every single one I’ve ever tried. If you’re visiting Sugar Marmalade, I highly recommend sticking to the drinks and desserts (or to the very rare savoury menu items that have held out over the years). I feel I still have to give three stars for these things alone, because they really are great. I did see that Sugar Marmalade has a new Nepean location, so here’s hoping that it can recapture some of the lost joy for me.

The Popcorn Chicken & Mango slush are bussin! Servers are friendly but do not expect them to follow up on how you are enjoying your meal. They may also bring dishes & drinks out sporadically which can sort of offset the meal times for you and your table mates. 3.7/5

Nice little shop for Hong Kong/Taiwan style desserts. We were served by a lone female shop keeper who happily took care of ringing us up, making the food, and brought it to our table. We ordered a coconut/mango/purple rice dessert. It was a little too light and could use a little more sugar and coconut. The taro drink on the other hand was very good. Overall, this is a nice place to meet with your friends and enjoy a little dessert.

Great variety of dshes and treats to try, super friendly staff. On the day we went they were missing some things but lots to choose from so easy to find an alternative

What a fun experience, the food is amazing. I had the light and fluffy Mango pancake with vanilla ice cream! The other desserts were amazing. Do yourself a favour and try it.

Dessert was good. The mango pancake was very good. You order using your phone which was fun. The staff were nice and friendly. I would have rated it higher but I found the music a little loud and it could have been cleaner. It was dirty, it was just not clean.

The desserts are so nice! Love the mango shaved ice, truly an amazing dessert. I also loved the mint lychee soda. Would love coming back for desserts, in addition to the things I order from here often!

The desserts were okay. The waffle was good but the price seems to be a bit much for the amount of food you get.The Mango and black glutinous rice with coconut milk was just alright. The rice didn't have much flavour and was all clumped together at the bottom.The wait was weirdly long. We were the only people at the restaurant and it took close to 30 min to get 2 waffles and the black glutinous rice with coconut milk.The staff was friendly and the service was good though.

Very flavourful. The pork and chicken katsu came out super hot which was great for a cold day! The Takoyaki could have used a bit more of the mayo sauce but overall very nice. Wish the portions could have been larger
