Calgary Central - Lancore Alberta Supports Centre

Terrible phone service, awful help all around. Would never call me back despite how desperate my situation was. And even though child and family services was behind me and insisted I continue to receive benefits in order to help me keep my son in my life the cut me off still anyways and watched me lose everything and did nothing to help me. Did everything I could to ask for help and was turned down and ignored . I still have no idea what happened cause my worker left town and so did her supervisor. Worst experience of my life!

Beware home owners who take these people in and want to help them get rent and damage deposit. They get the money in their bank account!! You will have a high chance of getting absolutely nothing!! I promise you will have wasted your time and much mental anguish when they up and move out leaving your mortgage behind. There is no guarantee you will receive a dime - it happened to us so be careful!

I would like thanks the people and staff who do there best help , I know the system is having issue , I wish the people with anxiety issue , who need speak with a person finds the help they need , I found this office on 10 ave , what a great group of people they tried to help me , I really just wish , when you contact some one that some one is able contact you back before you lose your home , God bless

The buildings were closed and I had to call in. Both ladies I talked too were so friendly. I made an appointment and 3 days later I was contacted. Jennifer the lady who helped me was amazing, made me feel ok about my situation, even let me vent a little lol. And that same afternoon she had me approved for some much needed support to help me through an extremely tough time. Thank you alberta supports, and thank you jennifer. You are an angel

I think due to the fact that people are stressed for having to apply for income support makes people alot more judgemental. I recently had to apply and applied online, and if you are diligent about looking for information everything is there and thorough and easy to maneuver around. They even tell you when you call this location to contact Albert's Supports Contact Centre to get more information to which waiting times on the phone are short and everytime I have contacted them they have given me all the info I need and have been understanding. We have alot of supports in Calgary and I think when we are down and out we forget that there are alot of places in the world without even a number to call to get help or info. The rating that this establishment has recieved does not depict how they actually are. When you are polite and understanding that they also have a high stress job so are they.

Someone tried killing themselves because of you and I'm bringing this up to the news - you should have helped them more

I come from BC, welfare there is a joke and they treat everyone like crackheads that owe money but keep trying to front. People here are nice and helpful. I had a problem with lack of funds and in a couple days I had some spending money. In BC I waited 2 months too find out they lost my paperwork and that I had to refile. so I did and they lost it again. it took me 3.5 months to get assistance and I destroyed my life in the process due to poverty. People here should be happy they have solid people working for them who actually care for peoples well being. everything in Alberta is better; Shelters, treatment centers, detox, hospitals, not so crooked cops... Its all better here.

I have been unable to work reactive arthritis. I got rear-ended after the found out and was forced to sign a repayment agreement. Dr said can't work more than 1 shift per week. If I work more won't be walking again. That has no bearing on the fact my appendix bursting or my condition afterwards.

I am off work due to medical issues and because I am the sole caretaker of a child with special needs.For a family of 4 we just received our support for February. It was $43. It was this low because of family earnings that don't even cover rent. We are now facing homelessness.The prescription coverage doesn't cover my childs medicine.If I apply for coverage for being unable to work I will get $88 a month.If I try to improve my situation Alberta Works seems to make things worse.I will be contacting my MLA as Alberta Works forces people to stay in horrible situations.

Never return calls or emails. Cancel your benefits without letting you know. Rude innatentntive staff, they make you feel even less of a human being as if its not embarrassing and stressful enough to ask for assistance as it is. They undermine qualifications for certain programs that say in plain english that if youre unemployed or marginally employed you can use those. Hardly the help we deserve as himan being. Kids and i will surely never get back on our feet with this particular office. Probably time we band together and go to Joe Ceci's office down the road and get the MLA involved with an investigation.
