I recently applied and was denied. After years of research, because all I had was baptismals of my gramma and great gramma, my mothers birth certificate says cree indian decent. My great great gramma died on the prairie giving birth to my great gramma have a baptism paper for this and because there is no birth certificate the head of the geneology department denied my mom & myself. My ancestors fought side by side Gabriel Dumont, and fought in the 1885 rebellion and many other battles the Metis fought. They also went to jail for this. I researched for five years, Records are scattered names spelled different, people with info die. But I was DENIED !! I got no help from the geneology dept. I sure feel discriminated against. Maybe this post will save someone my aggrivation.

I recently applied for my passport and my Métis card and received my passport way before my card there has been no communication on Métis side my son and daughter both have numbers and this was an update application and had nothing but trouble with this process make me very sad that being treated so poorly by my own people

The new office is amazing and the Stampede lunch is the best in town.
