Current waiting time in the waiting roomNot including seeing the doctors and dealing with my child condition. So if ur heading over with ur young one , pack and prepare yourself with anything that would help your wait pass comfortably. It’s always worth the wait as doctors and nurses do there best.

I was in the Emergency department in 2020 for mental health reasons. A social worker spoke with my mother and told her I didn't actually want to kill myself because if I did I would have just done it and not come to the hospital" we didn't have a chance to get her name and was never able to report. After seeing this lady we waited about 5 hours before being transferred to a makeshift psych unit. I spent a night there only to never see a single doctor or receive any help whatsoever. I was left alone in my room screaming and crying all night while I had to listen to other kids do the same because the nurses did not care and were neglecting patients. I never saw a doctor and the next day got discharged after begging since I arrived to leave. I needed help but after what I went through I just wanted it to be over and to be home. I was supposed to receive a referral to psychiatry after this visit but they lost my referral and I didn't see one of their psychiatristts until six months later. She saw me twice before discharging me back to my family doctor. I still have nightmares and night terrors every night from the ward and I will never go back there. I now have severe medical trauma . DO NOT BRING YOUR CHILD OR TEEN HERE IF THEY ARE STRUGGLING WITH MENTAL ILLNESS/HEAPTH!!"

No idea why half of the staff work here when it is evident that they do not care about children. We rushed our 8 month old to the emergency room when she had a consistent fever of over 102. We have been waiting to just speak to someone for over 5 hours (and counting) …it is one thing to keep a child with a high temperature but an infant is even worse.Due to COVID they are also only allowing one parent in at a time. Not the most ideal situation especially when you’re with a sick child.***Dr. Kim shows no empathy towards her clients and has terrible bed side manner. She made me feel extremely uncomfortable and answered all my questions with smart remarks. In the middle of our conversation she just left and never came back. When I asked the nurse what was going on she said Dr. Kim said my issue was resolved. Not sure why she works at a child’s hospital or any hospital when she clearly dislikes people.

Today was the second time in 4 days we ended up McMaster emergency with my sons abdominal pain, yes the waits are long but patients are triaged and there ambulances that are coming in the back end with patients that you don’t see in the waiting room. I actually feel super bad for the nurses and doctors they are over worked but everyone we dealt with was SO kind , caring , helpful and encouraging . They do actually care, we waited a while when my son was hooked up to the IV and they have a great team back there . I trust my childrens health with McMaster and all the staff. Thank you for helping him today and making an awesome referral to a peadiatrican for us .

How is it possible in a so called first world country and a hospital specializing in children to have a child with 105 degree fever wait 7 hours to see someone also why do hospitals have 15 nurses in the emergency department but only 1 doctor please tell me how this makes any logical senseAnd as for the photo wow LCBO isn’t that like thanking a drug dealer for helping the community or a tobacco companyRight on clearly hospitals are just profit machines theses days

The wonderful nurse in Triage popped my daughters dislocated elbow back in within minutes of walking in the door tonight. We happened to be super lucky and need their help on a slow night. The staff was amazing and got us home quickly. If we had gone elsewhere I am sure my daughter would have been in pain for much longer and would not have had experts who have seen it as often.

I took my son to the family Dr who advised I take him to Mcmaster to be seen as they figured he needed IV fluids and x ray. After i spent 30 mins trying to find a parking spot in their teeny tiny parking garage I arrived in the ER around 2pm. We were triaged quick which was great. 5pm came around and he spiked another fever. I was basically thrown advil and told to go give it in the waiting room as she was too busy. Tons of crying screaming bored kids running around. 2 TVs but nothing playing on them. My son was so sick he just layed on the chair the whole time (hes 4). Come 830 pm I went to the registration desk and asked if they had an approximate time until we were called. Was told you have ONLY been here 6.5 hours. It will at least be another 1-2 hours"...very rudely. We were finally called in around 9pm.Dr was nice. Got an xray. No pneumonia so sent us home and was told to come back in 3 days (day 8) if fever persisted.I have to say nurses were great.Next day and cough is worse

Posting again as the previous one didn’t post. This is my 4 times at this hospital and I can’t thank the staff enough. The emerg department goes above and beyond for their patients. They are compassionate, caring and attentive. My son was admitted may 24 long weekend for what they initially thought to be very scary things. The nursing staff, doctors, gift shop/cafeteria and cleaning staff were all incredibly kind to our son! Even working together to find his monster school bus! (Thank you!!).I just had my other son there tonight and while the wait time was insane, I would want hours to be seen by you his team of paediatric staff! People have to understand they have a lot of children they need to be attentive to and some have far more life threatening issues then others! That’s just the reality! Take your child to another emerg department, you’ll wait the same length of time not will not be seen by the best peds staff!Anyways thank you all! And to our favourite emerg nurse (I really wish I was better with names) thank you for making some of our scariest days a little less scary! We will always look out for you to come say hi!
