SOLOMOS - Smoked Salmon / Saumon Fumé -Tartares / Lox / Tartinades - Catering / Party Trays

It is good to laugh at oneself after being too judgemental. Such was the case when I visited Solomos. I thought that I was going to a Jewish fish place because of the name and because of the background of the person who recommended Solomos for the best smoked salmon in town by far.On arrival, I quickly changed my mind. The clean interior with white shelving and counter space, chalk board featuring fresh fish specials and lmpeccable salmon filets glistening from freshness and the oily nature of the fish in the display case had me thinking that this might be a French Poissonerie.So much for my machinations, Solomos is a Greek fish store that has been open for 3 years specializing in fresh smoked salmon cured in a traditional smoke, a pastrami smoke that uses the spices in smoke meat as well as a BBQ cure.The store sells olive oils, pita chips and fresh bagels from Real bagel up the street on Queen Mary.My traditional and pastrami smoked salmon purchases after being cut in razor thin slices in front of me was wrapped individually in a glazed paper that facilitated the peeling of the fragile pieces in whole.At home, I didn't have onions or whole tomatoes. Just as well because it allowed me to taste the smoked salmon on a bagel with cream cheese. My primitive sandwich was first class. Parallels were like fine caviar and sour cream or an oyster sliding down ones gullet. Unfortunately a second bagel, which exceeds my diet, would have been necessary to assess the virtues of the pastrami smoked salmon. Though I am sure it's great, the reality is that the indulgence will have to wait until tomorrow's breakfast.

Have been many times. Never disappointed. One of the best smoked Salmons in Montreal. A must try for all.

Have a chance to visit Montreal for a couple days. Went to Solomos for the smoke salmon bagel, which is recommended by lots of Montreal local. Shop is clean and beautiful decor, service is fast and nice, price is a bit on the higher side for a Le New Yorker bagel, but the quality of smoke salmon and the house made a a cream cheese sauce is worth to pay a bit more. I ended up going there for a bagel for 2 times on 3 days in Montreal. This can be my proof on how great their Le New Yorker bagel. In addition, I bought the salmon cream cheese from the store. Went home today and try it, full of salmon flavor, and it won't override the cream cheese. Definitely worth the price!

Excellent service. They are more than willing to answer with a smile all your questions. The candy salmon made with maple syrup is a delicacy! Really a clean and nice place to buy all your smoke fish products. It is very likely to become a new tradition to visit them many times during the year. They also have flavored cream cheese spreads and crackers or bagels if you are planning a cozy tv night at home or you are receiving friends. This is the kind of place that makes Montreal a cool city to live in!

Very authentic, great vibes and amazing service.The food is fantastic, I recommend the bagel with salmon, cream cheese & avocado it is absolutely delicious. Fair price point for the quality as well.Definitely stop by if you're in the area!

I stumbled upon this place while driving and got out with two types of smoked salmon. I got the regular one and the otheg one with herbs. The taste was simply amazing and the salmon very tasty and fresh. The fish was not too hard to chew and it has an amazing portion of fat in it. I added it later to a bagel with cream cheese and may I say that the taste was out of this world!

It really is an excellent fish store. The fish isn’t fishy. Whether you go for the smoked salmon or their other fresh fish, you can’t go wrong. They also have a good selection of olives. It’s our go to for weekend brunch. 10/10.

Salmon is always fresh and glistening - it literally melts in your mouth. Their smoked salmon is so good that I don't ever order it from restaurants whenever I eat out.Their staff is super friendly and welcoming too. Order a half a pound of smoked salmon from these guys and you'll never buy it anywhere else.

The one, the only place one get salmon in this town. Home smoked, fresh every time. Their bagel and lox is perfect and one should try the salmon tartare.
