Ive been to Yamagoya a few times, the last being over a year ago. I would have given them a 4-5 star at that time, but tonight was extremely lacklustre.The ambiance is amazing and the service was good, but the portion size and quality of the sushi/sashimi was very disappointing and all of the rolls were mediocre at best.I like my sushi/sashimi pieces to be thick, which I feel ads to the flavour, but these were extremely thin for the price. All of the rolls we had, spicy tuna, tiger, unagi and calamari rolls all tasted the same. There was nothing unique about any of them, and the flavour was almost the same for all of them, it was actually hard to discern the taste between them. The spicy agedashi tofu and dumplings were really good.Overall the restaurant was nice, the patio and ambiance was great, but the food was just ok, I will not be repeating anytime soon.Ambiance ****Service ****Portions **Quality ***Taste **Overall ***

This was a great place to go to. The sushi was done very well, I especially liked the BC Rolls. We had a group of seven so we got a vooth; which has a curtain that separates the dining area, which is good for privacy and noise. Kept our children contained too. The only reason I done give this 5 stars is because it gets busy so quickly and we had to wait for 25min to get seated.

There was a line up for dinner before the place even opened on Saturday so go early! It's a small and busy place, but the service was friendly and attentive and the food was fresh and satisfying! I really enjoyed the sashimi carpaccio.

Was a great sushi experience. We sat out on the patio which is enclosed with heaters. Food was delicious!! They had some fun unique spins on traditional sushi dishes. Out front had lots of parking and was easy to get in and out of with an RV.

Very popular place judging by the wait to get in but totally worth it. Terrific food and terrific service. The Inclusive dinner for two was very good, we ordered Fernie Rolls as well and they were great. The curtained off booth provided nice atmosphere. Good selection of beers on tap. Priced well. Totally recommend!

I eat like a king. The food was so good, I could not believe it. I come from Vancouver where sushi is at every corner and you can find high quality. And at Yamagoya I was blown away. Definitely will come back when I come to Fermi for business. The service was great, really took care of my allergy and proposed a gluten-free and dairy-free brownie dessert that I would have not known about if she didn’t tell me. I give it 5 stars ⭐️ + a bonus point for the desert

This restaurant was able to change my opinion about sushi! Now I fell in love with sushi, the waiters were great and we had dinner here two days when we were in Fernie and this restaurant deserves more than 5 stars ⭐️
