Golden Star Restaurant

This quirky Chinese-take-out-meets-sports-bar might not be everyone's cup of tea, but as a local who often comes by for their Wednesday $4 special, it's one of my favourite places. The restaurant is family owned and the people who run it are friendly and like to be familiar with their regular customers.

This restaurant has the best staff! We've been semi regulars here and the food is awesome! If you come with 1-2 people, get the combos for the best price, other wise, get the dinners! Stop in for a beer too if you want!

Had the special last night. Probably the worst meal I have ever had. The rice was crunchy and to call what you gave me egg rolls is a disgrace. At first I thought you forgot to put any filling in them.

This is a Kingston classic. John Tse is a fantastic cook. The family helps run the restaurant. It's actually on County road 33 in Amherstview

I just had a few bites of what I'm certain was the most disgusting chinese food ive ever seen in my life I literally threw the entire plate out and washed my mouth out please pray for me because if I'm ever going to get food poisoning its going to be today.

Cook should be replaced!!!We were 3 adults and 3 children, actually very hungry after a long day of driving, and we love chinese food. The waitress was very nice. We ordered the meal for 4 as she kindly told us the servings are big. And then came the disappointment. The meal consisted of a wonton soup which was really tasteless including the wontons, egg rolls that had no taste, dull spare ribs, shrimps with vegetables which was the only dish that was reasonably eatable, and sweet and sour chicken that was tasteless too. There was an omlete and onion dish that was not bad if you are an egg fan. The fortune cookies were the children's only comfort. We had to feed them ice cream to kill their hunger... The good thing about it was the cheap price - only 44$ for the meal. It is so easy to make chinese food tasty that I did something I seldom do - When I gave the nice waitress the tip and found out she was the owners' daughter I told her they had to do something about the cook, Our B&B nice owner told us they used to have a good cook. So I recommend to get him back...

Had a great experience at the Golden Star. Portions are very large. Wonton soup was steaming and the special was almost too much to eat! I asked for some veggies and the waitress brought out my order with perfectly cooked veggies. Very happy and the price is right! I'll be back.

I'm a huge fan a Chinese food and they are by far the worst quality. Rubber pieces of steak, dirty restaurant, I could just imagine the kitchen. Worst restaurant experience ever, I wouldn't recommend anyone to eat there.

Learn from our mistake and stay away from this place. We ordered take out and it was the absolute worst Chinese food we've ever had. It all ended up going in the garbage!Never again!!!
