The Dangers Of VD ( Valentine's Day) was a perfect date night play. The original cast & writer from the Calmar Prairie Players reunited to finally really enjoy the play! The timeless jokes were just as dirty and the 1st time we enjoyed this wickedly sharp play. The buffet was delicious! Volunteers were fun & professional. The servers included the future performers of The Odd Couple. ( In 2023, there is nothing odd about this couple anymore). Let's call it The Regular Couple!

This venue was so beautiful on the inside and newly renovated to colours that matched our wedding decor. The venue is grey/ white and features a beautiful light piece in the middle of the area. Kristen the manager was so easy to contact and organize with for our wedding, and the prices were so reasonable to rent out! I loved that the alcohol was provided at the venue and you got to choose to either have open bar, cash bar, or subsidize the price of the drinks for guests with tickets. They have volunteer bar staff and everything ran so smoothly. I loved this venue for the reception. You can opt for early access for a fee to decorate, as well as tear down. It has keyless entry and wifi, and even provides access to their kitchen, plus use of their glasses, dishes, and cutlery. No complaints, the venue was perfect for our 80 person wedding, but can definitely have at least double comfortably. Also of note there is a camping RV park so close! 5/5 stars

We had our wedding reception here. Absolutely gorgeous venue, and the manager Kristen was a pleasure to deal with. We got so many comments from our guests about how beautiful the space was. The bartending staff were amazing as well. Wish I could give this little gem more stars because it really is a great venue!

We had our wedding at the Kinsmen the other weekend and it is a GORGEOUS venue! Very easy to communicate with, we asked for hall dimensions so we could create our own ceiling drapery and Kristen the manager was very accommodating. The bartenders were also great. For clean up we only had to do take down our décor. No worrying about the tables, chairs, linens etc; the venue does that themselves (LOVE that!).The only issue that came up was our bar bill at the end..At any wedding, guests purchase tickets and a lot of the times, they purchase additional tickets to help out with the bar bill or they buy too many. KINSMEN POCKETS THAT ADDITIONAL MONEY, IT DOES NOT GO TOWARDS YOUR BAR BILL! We were sent our invoice, we paid it, and my parents asked how many tickets were PURCHASED vs. redeemed because they were curious as to how alcoholic our families got. When I saw Kristen a few days later to pick up the specialty alcohol that was left over, I got a “Oh we have never had anyone ask about that before & we have no way to track that.” as a response.1. Take the amount of drink tickets SOLD, multiply by $2/ ticket. Anything LEFT in the till is the excess amount for UNREDEEMED tickets.2. Tickets also have a number on them for a reason, so you can track them. You would record the number to start at the beginning of the night (ex. #1001), and the number at the end (ex. #2001). Count how many tickets were redeemed (ex. 900) and then go 1000- 900= 100 tickets not redeemed. Kinsmen told me that would be too “time consuming”I told her that it was not fair that guests contributed money for tickets at OUR wedding and that it wouldn’t get applied to our bar bill. All other venues do this and it’s very sketchy. Kristen was going to bring this to the Directors attention, and the answer 4 days later was- we will refund you $190 for the tickets NOT redeemed as that is the count. (I DID received my refund from them fyi) When I asked to see a copy of the record keeping, (I now of course do not trust them at this point, and if they were telling the truth about the numbers then it shouldn’t have been an issue) I was told “With the processing of the refund we consider this matter closed and we do not feel it necessary to share our paperwork.”. I also mentioned that if they were to pocket and keep the money then it should be highlighted in their contract somewhere. I was informed “The Club will discuss at their next meeting in the FALL to ensure everyone has a chance to discuss and ensure that we are moving forward with the best procedures”. Basically, ANY other wedding this summer is also getting screwed over!I emailed the directors (found on their website) and received a bounce back for 5/8 of those people. The director Patrick got back to me and stated that he respectfully disagrees with my statement and yes they pocket the money (I have it all in writing). “We have never counted tickets sold or communicated that in any way to our guests. Our manager certainly didn’t communicate any unredeemed tickets would be refunded to you. It’s not in the contract. **(writers sidenote- ANYTHING about what they do with the tickets purchased/ pocketed money is not stated in the contract)** If this was communicated to your guests by you or your guests assume that was the case. This was an error on your part.” & “that’s why there a donation box for envelopes” (meaning your card box on your gift table). And they will now be updating their contracts rather than waiting until the fall. Good call but ONLY because I went farther up the chain “We have drafted an email to all brides and have changed our contract moving forward to communicate this to the bride and grooms. We are making a sign to reflect this at the ticket seller location.” With this statement at least you know for certain what you are agreeing to, BUT it still isn’t right…I respectfully agree to disagree with them.

This venue is the perfect place to get married! We loved the layout and feel of the venue itself, and Kristen was a delight to work with. I would definitely use this venue again for other events in the future!
