Public Works - City of Peterborough

The plow takes all the snow off Philip street and dumps it in my driveway on Hilliard every snowfall deliberately instead of simply pushing it past my driveway.

We live in an old house and there is a semi-regular issue with tree roots blocking or slowing down the City's sewer lines. Typically this results in high volume water events backing up a bit in our basement - shower and bath water mostly. Every time I've called Public Works, they've showed up quickly and solved the problem. They've even taken extra steps to clean up and make sure they down make a mess. We are very satisfied with their work.

Cuts up the road every year for some reason to get at some pipes, slaps some hot mix on it and wonders why the roads are so bad. Please, find another way and pave the roads. Stop cutting these enormous rectangular chunks and wrecking the streets!!

Thanks for picking up the lawn care. Was it cause I was the only house on the street that had it out so you just didn't feel like coming up the street. That's pretty lazy my taxes at work. Thanks for nothing

How come is when there is no snow or ice the plows an side walk plows are out.... But when there's ice you guys ar NO WHERE TO BE FOUND! I was taking my son to school & I fell on the city side walk... An hurt myself... An might I add iam.... 7 months pregnant! An yes I was wearing winter boots!!!!!!!. Iam not plzed! !!!.....

I would like to thank the Public Works Department for addressing the issue at our local park on Wentworth St. where a snapping turtle had laid her eggs on the access roadway. They placed two traffic cones marking the spot where the eggs are. It is much appreciated! Ken Young

I CALLED THE ROADS DEPT. AS I HAD ALREADY CHECKED THE WEBSITE FOR HALF-LOAD ROADS. IT WAS UNCLEAR TO ME WHETHER THE ROADS I HAD TO TRAVEL ON FOR A TRAILER DELIVERY WERE INCLUDED.THE YOUNG LADY WHO ANSWERED THE PHONE PUT ME ON HOLD TWICE, I ASSUME TO ASK SOMEONE ELSE.... EACH TIME CAME BACK ON THE LINE AND SAID CHECK THE WEBSITE. I REITERATED THAT I HAD ALREADY AND IT WAS UNCLEAR. COULD I SPEAK TO SOMEONE WHO WOULD KNOW.SHE REPEATED, CHECK THE WEBSITE, IT'S WHAT THE TOWN OFFERS. IS THERE ANYTHING ELSE I CAN HELP YOU WITH TODAY? I SAID, SO YOU'RE SATISFIED WITH THE LEVEL OF SERVICE YOU PROVIDED ME TODAY?..... THAT'S WHY I'M COMPLAINING. THERE HAS TO BE *SOMEONE*, ANYONE* WHO WORKS IN THE ROADS DEPT. THAT HAS ADDITIONAL KNOWLEDGE OF THE ROADS INVOLVED. THEY CERTAINLY WOULD IF I SENT AN OVERLOADED TRUCK DOWN ONE!!!!THE LEVEL OF PUBLIC CUSTOMER SERVICE IS ABSOLUTLEY UNACCEPTABLE!!!! THE GENERAL PUBLIC DOES NOT HAVE AS MUCH KNOWLEDGE AS IS EXPECTED FOR AN EMPLOYEE HOLDING A POSITION IN THE ROADS DEPT. THE YOUNG LADY ANSWERING THE PHONE SHOULD HAVE OFFERED TO PUT ME THROUGH TO SOMEONE WHO COULD BETTER ADVISE ME!THOROUGHLY DISGUSTED BY THEIR LACK OF CARE AND CONCERN

I'd like to thank you for your inability to remove ice and snow.... in the past 5 years I have fractured my right foot twice, my left ankle once and now I'm in bed again with torn muscles in my right foot....all do to your inability TO DO YOUR JOBS....I'm seriously considering taking legal action against you.
