Salmon River Country Inn

The Eastern Shore doesn't have a lot of tourists compared with other areas of Nova Scotia so there are not many inns and restaurants. Salmon River Country Inn is a great place for a short stay. We had room 7 for two nights and it was very comfortable (it is the largest room). The restaurant was wonderful. We love the German menu with standard German fare including Black Forest cake and apple strudel.I recommend having a drink on the deck while watching sunset over the river.

Stopped in for dinner, had Jagerschnitzel Spatzle, Spatzle great flavors and the schnitzel was generous portion tender and flavourful . Service is excellent.

Saw this place recommended on a gluten free Halifax Facebook page and have been dying to try it! Stopped by on our way home from Clam Harbour beach and we were not disappointed! They had so many gluten free and dairy free options. I had my first ever fish chowder and some delicious fish and chips. The view was gorgeous as well. Will definitely be back!

Only stayed one night but was very impressed with the hospitality, history, and quality of the inn. Very cute and comfortable rooms. Breakfast was included and simple but had homemade muffins. Scenery was beautiful especially at sunset. Very happy with this find during our travels.

Couldn't have asked for a better experience. Friendly host and staff, delicious food, felt like home.

So beautiful. Stayed in the cottage, it was perfect. Can't beat the price. Staff were amazing, they kept the kitchen open for us when we arrived late just because they knew we were hungry. Food was incredible. Love that half the menu is your typical East coast seafood items and the other is German. Will stay here again for sure.

Today, January 31, 2023, in NE Ohio it is sunny, but very cold. A stay-at-home day, I decided to cook comfort (pasta). I opened a small cookbook my husband obtained while staying at Salmon River House Country Inn, NS 24 years ago. It was his last trip, but it was very spiritual and a miracle. I made Nancy's Pasta Sauce, Kempt Inn) (f/n/a Whitman Inn), which is so different. I've made it a few times, but today, again, it brought back memories of a miracle-a trip that brought a return to Jesus.The sauce is almost like a tomato stew containing amazing ingredients that blend together for a different experience.He loved his almost week stay and seemed to make quite a few friends at the Inn. The area was much like New England where we once lived-close to the ocean with many specialty fish restaurants.

I was a flight attendant so I have quite a bit of experience staying at hotels, and similar facilities.Never in my life have I had a more enjoyable experience than staying at the tucked away, one of kind, gem of an inn!Margit is the most fantastic, gracious, and considerate host I have ever come across in all my years of travel. She pays exquisite attention to detail, and goes above and beyond for all of her guests.I stayed here a week, and was able to watch how she treated every single person who walked through her door the same - as if they were the only guest in the whole place.She really makes you feel heard, and appreciated.The location is phenomenal, the view is gorgeous, and the whole place feels like a cozy cabin.Her cooking?? Unbelievably delicious!! I will fly to NS again just to eat her meals.Whether you are gluten-free, vegan, or any allergies -- she has you covered. She even went out of her way to make a special meal for me that I ate a few times in Germany back in 2014.Seriously the most amazing hostess. You will not find a better place than the Salmon Country River Inn.

Just went there for dinner so can't say nothing about room. Food was great. I just love schnitzel.

Went for dinner... food and drinks were fantastic. But music should have started later - was 7 to 9...should have been 9 to 11 p..... it was too loud to talk
