Brass Butterflies
I have been taking classes at Brass Butterflies (pole dancing) for just over a year and I absolutely love it. I've met so many incredible people here, and the studio itself is like one big community/family. Before I joined Brass Butterflies I had very minimal athletic experience, but thanks to the excellent instructors and safe learning environment I was able to do things I'd never thought possible for me (I went from not being able to do a push up to lifting my body weight over my head in as short as a few months). The attitude in the studio is very relaxed and incredibly supportive. The curriculum taught is fun, safe, and effective, and the studio offers plenty of extras on a regular basis such as: photo shoots, workshops, and showcases/parties/social events. The owner is excellent and is very passionate not only about pole and aerials but about ensuring all of her students are happy. If you have a suggestion, it will not only be listened to but taken to heart. If you've always wanted to try pole or aerials, this is the place to do it. There are studios in my home town but I drive 45 mins to this one because I love the classes, people, and atmosphere so much.

I've grown in strength and confidence since joining Brass Butterflies a year ago. The studio has a great variety of classes for many different skill levels. The instructors care, and are very encouraging. It's not always been easy, but it's totally worth it.

Brass Butterflies offers a truly unique experience. From the moment you walk in the door the staff is friendly and happy to help. Instructors are fun, realistic and encouraging. It’s not a typical “I hate my life” workout. This is honestly the most encouraging and empowering group of people. It’s not about size or age or sex. It’s about growing stronger and having fun and being around people who make you feel like you can do it. There are classes for everyone from pole to silks and acro that are designed to promote success from one level to the next. What makes Brass Butterflies my happy place? In this environment I have met some of the coolest people, and experienced the most genuine positive vibes I have ever encountered. Brass Butterflies is helping me achieve my goal of one day being a ninja. Thank you to all the staff for a job well done. One of a kind in Waterloo. Cheers.

Brass Butterflies is an amazing studio that is full of people (Both Staff and Students) that simply want to see you succeed. Whatever challenges or goals you have set for yourself, there is a combined effort from everyone to help you achieve it. Their combination of Curriculum and Non-Curriculum Classes that they offer have allowed me to not only meet, but surpass my fitness goals while learning talents I had no idea I could obtain. The facility is clean and welcoming as well. I plan on spending many years here as a student and recommend this place to anyone that has ever considered doing Pole or Aerial fitness.

UPDATE: I can't post another response, but I am truly appalled by the response that my review received from the owner. I cannot believe you would go so far as to blatantly lie, to discredit a customer and protect your image. I purchased this class (by ACCIDENT) at 2am on April 10th, which only left me with a few hours to cancel without incurring a late penalty. Because I was unfamiliar with the website, and the booking had already gone through without displaying a confirmation first, I felt it would be best to call the studio before cancelling, to ensure that I would receive a credit to use for another class. I called twice later that day but did not receive any answer. By that evening, the late policy was already in effect. I was busy with end of term assignments & exam preparations, so I eventually cancelled 12 hours before the class on April 14th. I figured I could call the studio after I had completed my exams, and sort things out then. The receptionist did not ask me any questions related to my skill set in pole dancing, she simply asked me if I had taken a class before. I replied that I had not, but that I have been pole dancing since the beginning of the pandemic (for about 3 years), at home on my own. I never said that I had played around" on my pole. If she had not been so quick to dismiss the validity of my skills

I've been taking aerial classes for almost 3 years for both hoop and silks and can say that the studio is welcoming and inclusive, AND committed to safety and hygiene, making it a safe environment in all aspects. Also even if you are almost exclusively interested in aerials, I personally recommend trying a pole teaser at least once. There is certainly some stigma around pole but in my experience it was the most body positive environment I've ever been in.

EDIT: my first issue (explained over email and over the phone) was never resolved, in person or in writing.I’ve had more than one disappointing experience with this studio.Recently, I signed up for a pole flow class for 8:30, and while I left with ample time, the time it took me to reach the studio was delayed due to an unprecedented storm that evening which made my ride to the studio difficult. When I reached, I was immediately turned down at reception after explaining my situation, and although I have been going here for over a year, no exemption was made due to my transportation situation. Additionally, when I checked the studios “late cancellation policy” they made note that students who arrive late are still welcome to stay and watch the class, however, I was not even given this option and rudely asked to leave. For someone who lives far from the studio, however, always prioritizes being on time to class and has never had an issue with showing up past “late policy” before, I would have thought that my situation could be overlooked, or I could atleast have been given the opportunity to stay and watch the class after taking 25 minutes to commute to the studio.Additionally, as mentioned earlier, I could probably have overlooked this dissapointing situation if this had not happened to me before. Less then a year ago, I had an emergency last minute cancellation (about 5 hours before class ) wherein I called the studio to inform them that I was not feeling well and did not feel safe coming in AND was in direct contact through email. In both of these unfortunate circumstances, I was not refunded for my class or given any credit. Both my emails highlighting my concerns were NEVER responded to. Clearly this studio cares more about collecting payment rather than the health, safety, and comfortability of their students.I enjoyed going here, however, I don’t feel comfortable coming to a studio that does not value their students or at the very least respond to their valid concerns.

Brass Butterflies is an amazing studio with such an inclusive and supportive community! The curriculum is empowering and the staff & students are there each step of the way to inspire during times of challenge and celebrate in times of success. The well-rounded range of classes enable you to develop your strength, flexibility, technique, as well as choreography. In addition to classes, the studio also offers opportunities to participate in competitions, external workshops, and showcases. This studio has enriched my life incredibly and I would recommend to anyone still hesitant to at least take one of the teaser classes!

Amazing environment and atmosphere. Brass Butterflies does an amazing job of creating a supportive and uplifting atmosphere. Where they support all types of people from different fitness background in an encouraging but not intimidating way. I thoroughly enjoy doing aerial silks here and have been doing it here for over a year. It's the first form of exercise that I really enjoy doing and don't think of as a task but as fun. I would highly recommend checking out this studio as it has incredible instructors and great other students, providing a very community centered atmosphere.
