Nice little park area. The locks have a couple of paths across and back. Parking wasn't a challenge and is close enough to walk down the main street to find a meal or shop. There was a boat transit while we visited, which showed the kids how the locks worked. There is also a 1 km round trip trail from the locks. Relaxed area.

Pretty spot. Explore the 6 different sides of the locks and river. Multiple ruins and historical plaques to read. The park has lots of great spots for rolling out your yoga mat(s). Don't forget your big spray in the morning and evening! After your walk, enjoy a stroll around the main street in merrickville. There are hidden cafes on some back streets so watch out for that!

If you ever get to visit the Rideau Canal in Merrillville, its quite a site to see. All the locks are open and closed manually still as compared to other locks in Canada. While at the locks, you can visit the historical buildings and monuments. The staff working the locks are very helpful and answer any questions you may have. If you are a boater, it takes approximately 45 minutes to pass all the locks while it's not super busy... 12pm to 4pm time frame. Definitely worth a look.

Loved this small historic town. Cool shops and restaurants. All historic buildings! Did some walking along the river, checking out ruins of mills that date to the late 1700s and early 1800s. The Rideau Canal and Lock was closed for the season however it was still interesting. Lovely treed Parks Canada Historic Site parkland right in downtown/@ the canal with parking, picnic tables, lots of trees and green grass. Easy to walk the streets to find that perfect cafe.
