Yu's Tae Kwon Do Martial Arts Centre

My family started at Yu's Tae Kwon Do when my son and daughter were in elementary school; it was a physical activity that our whole family could do together. What started out as a family sport turned into much more than that. Not only is TKD physically great exercise, it is also mentally beneficial for all ages. TKD is a structured martial art that requires and teaches focus, respect, discipline, determination and perseverance. While physically working hard, children and adults have fun, reduce stress, and build self confidence and self esteem. As new skills are learned, a student has a increased sense of accomplishment and pride. When I initially joined Yu's Tae Kwon Do, my main goal was to become more physically fit; I did not have long term goals. As time went on though, my love for TKD grew along with my commitment, so much so that I obtained my black belt after the age of 50. This would not have been possible at any dojang. Grandmaster Yu and Master Yu, while having high expectations and standards, treat every student as individuals who are encouraged to excel to the best of their abilities. I highly recommend anyone interested in trying a martial art to attend Yu's TKD. 역시 태권도는 한국인이 하는곳에 가야 좋다고 느꼈다. 캐네디언이 하는 곳에 한번 가봤는데 자세가 어설프게 느껴졌다. 예전에 다른 곳에서 아이들이 배운적이 있었는데, 여기 다니고 자세가 많이 좋아졌다.관장님이 대화하는걸 좋아하시고 재미있는 분이다. 베이징 올림픽 때 국제 심판으로 다녀오기도 하셨다. 아들도 함께 사범으로 가르치고 있다.무엇보다 아이들이 자세가 변하는게 느껴져 부모로 만족하고 아이들도 좋아한다.

Into my sixth year studying under Grand Master Yu. I’m typically there four to five days a week, and under Grand Master’s guidance and encouragement I have progressed from White (beginner) to 2nd Dan Black Belt. Thanks to Grand Master Yu’s teaching style, including focusing on your natural abilities and encouraging you to push yourself, I’ve dropped over 40 pounds of fat and my health has improved incredibly. At almost 59, I’m fitter than I was at 30. His unique approach of focusing on his adult, family and child students as individuals, while holding everybody to his high standards, is wonderful to watch and study under.
