Sea Star Cottage

My children say Sea Star Cottage is their favorite place in the whole world. The cottage is cheerful and bright. It sits well back from a quiet road that leads to Carters Beach. The beach is just a quarter mile away - an easy walk or bike ride - and is truly spectacular with sand dunes and turquoise water. Our kids loved the stream that crosses the beach. It's a great place for splashing and building sand castles. There's a wooded path behind the cottage leading to a private rocky shore covered with wave-rounded stones - a lovely place for a picnic on a sunny day. Port Mouton is a tiny fishing village, but there are lots of things to do in the area. The local restaurants are surprisingly good too - especially if you like seafood. I'd definitely recommend this place for a family beach vacation.

Beautiful sea side cottage with a big kitchen, great bathtub and three big bedrooms. Our family loves to vacation here each year. It is a few minutes walk from the gorgeous white sandy Carter's beach and close distance to many gorgeous hikes. The home is farther off from the road and feels very private with a big field in the back leading to the ocean.

The cottage is in a nice location. But there needs to be better maintenance and some deep cleaning. They could have cleaned the path to the rocky shore and make the path bigger so that people don't touch the weeds or even poison ivy. The house was very dusty and had lots of bugs and different sized spiders. There were lots of webs all over the cottage. There is a musty smell in the house. The kitchen drawers have a musty smell and it goes on the utensils in the drawers. The cottage needs major upgrades or even just keep it well cleaned. My family was disappointed with the condition of this cottage but we made our stay better by cleaning where we can and clean what we needed to use. Then we used fragrance air spray to make it smell better.

It's a nice place, but I think it might be worth fumigating the house and spraying the yard; ticks are EVERYWHERE. We see about 1 every few minutes when we're outside and I've found a few just loose in the house that we definitely didn't bring inside. With how serious tick bites can be it's getting to be a bit dangerous and just generally uncomfortable. Can't recommend this place to people who are scared of bugs.Additionally the kitchen and cookware could use some cleaning and replacement, the electric kettle was stained with brown grime and had dead bugs in it, there were mouse droppings in a few of the cupboards and drawers, and everything seems to have a layer of dust or dirt or smudges that requires a hard cleaning before use, which is especially inconvenient since there's actually not a dishwasher.
