Barclay Hotel

I've stayed here four times now (in off season) and it's often tough to find a room given how popular this hotel is. Prices are fair given the facilities, and staff are helpful. Rooms are clean, and some are pretty well updated. Beds are comfortable and sheets/linens clean and fresh.A few rooms could do with some updating, but the staff are pretty responsive to feedback. A few reviews have mentioned the manager, but if you give him a chance the slightly brisk manner gives way to being helpful and chatty.

Great place to stay if you’re looking for something cheap for a night or two. I had a quasi renovated room on the first floor that had flooring but other friends still had a gross smelly carpet in their room. Beds were comfortable and clean and the location can’t be beat. Lots of food, and activities nearby. Also let us check in 4 hours early which was a bonus but they will hold your bags if the room isn’t ready

Really impressed by this hotel! Such good value and great location. The reception and housekeeping staff were very friendly. After reading previous reviews we brought ear plugs, however we didn't need them. I will highly recommend this to anyone else staying in Vancouver! Cora next door is a must for breakfast, particularly their early bird deal.

Friendly front desk. Great location for walking around downtown. Very small room. Clean but definitely needed a lot of attention to paint/fixtures/curtains/furniture. Beds were clearly much older than they should be. They felt like you were going to roll out because of the sag where people sit on the side of the bed. Loud fridge. First floor rooms directly on the alley, and too warm to keep the window closed in spring. More expensive than I would have expected for the upkeep. Stairs to get into first floor lobby.

$170 for a decent room, nothing luxurious tho. hotel prices in all of VAN city are overpriced so this ends up being an affordable option, relatively. staff were helpful. multiple plug outlets didn’t work in the room. bathroom pretty good actually. wi-fi fine. bed surprisingly comfortable. a bit out of the way in relation to downtown but still in the main city area and walkable. not the worst option for a short visit. would stay again for one night. 15 min walk from the airport rail/train station stop in downtown.

Stayed there twice. Great location in downtown vancouver! Very safe although they have a bar just outside the hotel. Hotel staffs are very nice and helpful. Offers storage to guests checking out which is very convenient. Restaurants around the hotel are great! I will always go to this hotel

There was a strong odour when we entered our room. Running the AC and exhaust fan in the bathroom helped make it more tolerable. Cable TV provided. The TV is very small. The bed was comfortable, linen and pillow adequate. The bathroom was clean, the shower worked well. Soft towels. Shampoo, hand soap and shower cap provided. No shower gel. No room safe. There is no elevator in this hotel. You have to walk up 9 steps before you are at the front lobby. Longer steps to get to the second floor. Woken up a few times last night by loud banging doors closing. Banging noise also came through the wall next to our bed till 1 am. The location of the hotel is good. Upscale shops, variety of restaurants close by. There is a Cora restaurant next door for breakfast, offering an early bird menu before 8am daily.

I enjoyed my stay at the hotel. Considering how expensive Vancouver downtown hotels are, I found this to be more reasonably priced for a 2 star hotel. It’s in a very good location. Room was clean and the amenities were basic, but was ok for a 2 star hotel.No5 bus stop is right in front of the hotel, so if you want to catch public transport to YVR or elsewhere, it takes you directly to the Waterfront Sky train station.Reduced one star for the air conditioning. It’s loud when you switch on (which did not bother me), but it really didn’t cool the room down even when I reduced it to 66F (19C).

We arrived at the hotel at 8 a.m.and just finished the 11-hours flight,the staff arranged free early check-in .thank you very much to the Asian staff,It’s a pity I forgot to ask his name.Stay was friendly and check-in/check-out was quick and easy. Rooms were great for our needs, clean and with a comfortable bed. Shower was great!The location es excellent,you can walk to many places .Overall would definitely recommend this for any traveller.
