Sunnybrook Palliative Care

I found this facility to be insensitive to the needs of the family and disinterested in adjusting their routines even in the face of clear evidence that their patient would have had a longer life and a more comfortable death. Sad that personalities and personal insecurities are allowed to get in the way of the principles of good palliative care, especially since Sunnybrook is such a highly esteemed centre of care.

This review is only for the palliative care unit, my mother passed away last November at the main hospital she was under palliative care. The day my mother died the oncology unit was unable to reach the on-call doctor or any doctors from palliative care, for 14 hrs, my mother was actively dying none show up from palliative care or call to check on my mother. so disappointed. Terrible experience.

Very good care, facility is clean and well kept. Doctors and nurses very knowledgeable and compassionate. Made a very difficult time a little easier to bear.

Bad hospital

Dr Selby and the entire nursing staff were amazing ln making my mothers final days as comfortable as possible.

After reading the ratings of people's experiences, I was left with a negative impression of the palliative unit that my grandfather was being admitted to. The unit maybe a bit outdated but the healthcare team is phenomenal. They try their best to accommodate our needs. The nurses and doctors delivered excellent patient care and educated us on what to expect. I hope this review gives you some reassurance.

I was very weary when my grandpa was admitted here after reading these reviews but I found our experience at Sunnybrook Palliative Care fabulous. The doctors, nurses and support staff couldn’t have been more accommodating to my grandfather and family. We found everyone we came in contact with very pleasant, compassionate and couldn’t have taken better care of him in his last month of life. My grandfather was calling the nurses Angels. We found that the food often came cold, so I think that’s something that could be worked on. The facility was always clean and they had activities for the folks to attend almost daily. There is beautiful outdoor space for the patients and family to enjoy. Thank you very much Sunnybrook.

Can't even get thru to the Admissions via phone with number given on Google maps...answering system is NOT user friendly and after trying a couple times because I was given an extension on her vm I get transferred and then hung up on! 3x. They need to call their own phone and see what it's like to try to get ahold of someone then improve it. It is their responsibility and duty that they serve the people properly. Do better!
