Joslin is incredible. I came to her with a variety of vocal issues from a few years of unhealthy singing, and within a few months I was seeing HUGE changes, and am now able to sing without pain, and my love of singing has returned twofold! Her approachability, knowledge, talent, kindness, and unrelenting support have been so valuable and I recommend her to anyone looking for a fabulous voice teacher! She rocks.

Her expertise as a teacher and coach is highlighted by her ability to empower her singers to feel confident using their voice. I would highly recommend JRD Voice Studio to anyone looking into taking singing lessons. Joslin is full of energy, extremely talented, and I always looked forward to my lessons with her. As an adult taking singing lessons for the first time, I really appreciated that Joslin met me where I was at with my voice, my intention for taking lessons, and my goals. She was also very understanding that, as an adult learner, life happens and she was very accommodating. Most importantly to me, the lessons with Joslin were fun and I came away with more confidence in my voice, not only while singing, but in all other aspects in my life as well.

The conversations one can have with Joslin explore and build one's artistry which is what singing and performing truly is about. The openness of Joslin as a mentor creates a safe and encouraging environment for student to show vulnerabilities, thus to discover and to improve. Lessons from Joslin does not only build one's singing skills, but are powerful to shape one's perspective on life. Joslin is a sculptor, who all the students are artworks that Joslin works in dedication to dig out the beauty in them. Joslin does not only create art by performing vocally, her teachings are in its way the purest art form of discovering beauty. To breath with a wonderful human as Joslin makes this world often times dim and gloomy scents of relief and meaning.I enjoyed my five months lesson with Joslin so much. Aside from developing my singing skills with her, we overcame so much trouble under this global crisis circumstance. I was in China, when my lessons first started, and Joslin was in Vancouver. We were able to connect, overcoming the distance and time differences. Two months later, I finally arrived in Canada, and I continued my lesson with her through musicology online. I lived in a basement that makes me psychologically think the acoustic is depressing and inferior, which should affect my singing. Although, with Joslin’s encouragement I was not only able to endure the time difference, but also transcend the spatial boundaries that both come from a wall externally and a wall psychologically internal. I am grateful for this experience.

I have loved my four weeks of trial sessions with Joslin. I have learned so much in my lessons based on her use of analogies, various voice exercises that suit my voice. Joslin's lessons are exceptional and she is very energetic and inspiring. The online zoom format has made lessons much easier for me particularly during the day as evenings do not work well for me. I was having difficulties with lessons and consistency based on my schedule - and now I feel that my world has opened up again. My voice has opened up and my breath control is much better. I find my voice/throat area and breathing are so much more uninhibited due to Joslin's teaching techniques, which are relaxed and non-judgemental, and she makes me feel comfortable to try things with her kind and loving personality. I would recommend JRD Voice Studio 10/10!

I started searching for a voice coach when I realized that I wanted to pursue acting. I knew there was a voice hidden inside but I had no idea how to express it. Since I started taking lessons with Joslin, I have become a lot more comfortable with being in a vulnerable setting and making mistakes! Joslin is just so welcoming and I think we had an instant connection which made learning that much easier. The things I have learned with Joslin, I have been able to apply in my acting classes and the more I learn with her, the more hopeful I become with my acting career. I enjoy my classes and I cannot wait to see how much more I will learn and will improve! This is all thanks to Joslin, who is an amazing voice coach!

I've always been interested in singing but never had the courage to try until a few years ago when I decided to challenge myself and learn with JRD Voice Studio. I can't recommend Joslin and the JRD studio enough, and am grateful to have started my journey here. Joslin is an absolute A+ professional with a great sense of humour, ability to adapt to her students' needs and inspire them to take it to the next level. I've done more than I ever though possible, from RCM exams to musical theatre repertoire. Looking back at my progress since day one, I am so proud of how I've been able to develop my self-expression, competence, and confidence as a singer; this is a huge personal achievement, especially coming from a very shy, self-conscious and introverted person like myself. I honestly couldn't have done it without Joslin's support and appreciate her safe learning space to develop my skills. Joslin's passionate about finding ways to improve her student's learning experience, and constantly finds ways to find new resources and methods to foster learning. Case in point: With COVID-19, the world has transitioned from in person to online. As a student who has taken lessons with Joslin in person and now through her online classes, the transition has been seamless. If you've always been curious about finding your voice like me, do yourself a favour and learn with Joslin!

Joslin has truly changed how I view and perform classical music. She has gone above and beyond to accommodate my neurodivergency, which has helped me get back into feeling confident about performing classically. I truly recommend her as a teacher who cares about her students and is dedicated to her craft.

I found Joslin as a singing teacher about two years ago, and I've been deeply satisfied by the amount of growth in singing I was able to achieve during these two years. From helping me ace the RCM Vocal Exams(Not to mention the achievement of getting a gold medal for my region and level) to pushing me out of my comfort zone to learn and understand more aspects of singing, I cannot express my thankfulness for her enough through a review. Working with Joslin is a revelation; she is truly a wealth of knowledge and a fantastic force of positivity. She always talks about finding your own voice, and working with her has been an amazing journey to finding a sound that is entirely my own. I’ve learned so much about singing from her and found out how much I am capable of as a singer, which is far more than I thought even while I studied in a post-secondary voice program.
