I've been with JD Smith and Assoc for 18 years. I insurance my cars and home and when I moved or purchased a new car, the switch over has been with minimal effort. I don't always like how the insurance companies up my rates or change my overages but my CSR Jenny is quick to explain things, change my policy or like last year, change me to a new company and get me an $850 refund. I have no complaints and am thankful to not worry about being covered!!

I screwed up to purchase new motorcycle. they gave me a good deal $110 premium monthly at the beginning, so I signed contract and give VIN to them. they changed the word and put me in an expensive insurance. I wasted my time and money. I just surprised that mentioned that broker below...

Not a caring broker!!! This is what I found out after 20 years with this broker!!! I couldn’t believe how expensive my house insurance was getting year after year. I thought it was probably normal and that surely my broker would be looking out for cheaper insurance for me. No way! Not these guys. I finally looked around and got even better coverage for much less. I’m not impressed.

You should know that this broker is very unattentive when you have coverage concerns. Additionally, they hold on to your renewal policy documents until the last few days before expiry in the hopes that you will simply renew without shopping around. Could not recommend this broker due to their dishonest business practices.

I was in a situation where i had to pick up a new car in few hours and my previous insurance company refused to cover as the cost of car was too high for them to cover and they needed to follow up with their co-writers. Got introduced to Mark from JD Smith and he took complete control of things, sorted out everything in couple of hours and I was able to get the delivery of car right on time. In the process, I also ended up saving some money on premium payments. Excellent service!!

Changing my review to 1 star based off of the the unprofessional attitude and customer service approach of broker Joe. Had a very disappointing phone call with him today. Did not seem interested in my businesses altho I’ve purchased coverage from them in the past.

In the May windstorm a tree landed on my boat causing significant damage. I called JDS (my broker of 28 years) and filed a claim with Intact Insurance. When Intact responded with an insulting low-ball offer I turned to JDS to assist me.Instead of pressing the Insurance company on my behalf they did absolutely nothing. I can only describe the service" I got as uncaring and indifferent.To add salt to this wound I checked with another broker about insurance with a different company. A competent and professional agent sat down with me

I'm sorry to say that after more than 20 years with JD Smith, I'm now looking at alternatives. As a broker they're not working for me, and even during this time of COVID they're justifying a 2 year increase of almost 60% on my vehicle premiums. Old vehicles, no accidents or tickets, moved out of the city. Very disappointed.
