I been playing true North for this past year. They handled the passport for vaccines poorly. The refs don’t care about players safety at all. The ref make convenient calls when it suits them. They don’t watch the games at all. They are teams that shouldn’t be in the divisions that they play. True North hockey organization is a joke.

I reached out to the league to find out how they planned to handle the vaccine passports". What would happen to the teams/players registration money if they were ineligible to play because of a change in rules to enter the rink/facility. Below is the response I got...."Respectfully

Worst hockey league ever. Both Wednesday and Thursday night conveners are absolute jokes. She has zero personality and zero business skills but got in because her Daddy runs the Ford Center. She never adheres to your concerns appropriately. She also does not dress the part. Maybe if she showed up and looked a little more presentable, people would take her seriously. The other one is no where to be found when you have a concern because he's either drinking in the bar or in the parking. Come to ASHL. Everything is 10000000x better.Including the refs!

I am surprised at all the negative reviews. We have been in the league for a number of years and we find it to be well run. The office is great to work with and very responsive and I really feel that the division convenors try to ensure that the teams are having as much fun as possible. Sure the reffing can be iffy at times but it's beer league hockey. They are going to miss a few calls here or there. No more than all the open nets the players miss. Frankly, I think it's the best adult rec league I have ever played in.

Before signing up for winter hockey, knowing Covid might put things on hold I asked what happens if things get shut down/season does not happen. Was told I could get credit for missed games or refund. Since hockey is not happening at the moment I asked for a refund...they are holding onto $1500 claiming that because they gave me the rest of my money back it counts as a refund. We've been playing winters and summers for 7+years and at times on two weeknights. Terrible customer service.Edit: they did finally cancel" the season and returned deposit."

Never had a problem with the league. Looks like people review based on the refs but they’re standard refs for non pro adult hockey. Played with them for 4 years now and definitely try to make it to their “super series” tournament... good weekend. Office is very helpful if you’re down a few players. Fair price.

These refs as per the other comments don't care, but thats expected out of any league of any rec sport you will play, nothing different. Some are actually good and others come in get paid and leave. My biggest concern and as you may read as you carry on reading other reviews is the utter lack of respect for people and the lack of customer service that True North Hockey League has for people. I have been pushed into the boards from behind suffered a mild concussion and both shoulders separated IN A NON CONTACT LEAGUE. One of the guys who hit me had the leading penalties in the division with 28min in only 7 games, his name on his jersey scrappy" when I filed a formal complaint I received no response no investigation nothing. A player on my team threatened a ref and told him he wait for him the parking lot

There are a lot of bad reviews of this league, but I think they're mostly overreacting. I have played in this league for 8 seasons now and for most of those, I have been the team rep (and responsible for most of the liaising with the league office). I started with the beginner program and played in various levels of their rookie and recreational divisions.Refs: Generally do not call icing and miss some penalty calls. I have never felt unsafe in this league though as they call the really egregious stuff every time. I have never seen a fight break out in probably close to 150 games. Players get ejected when things get tense, and it's generally the instigators.Cost: The league is about $575 per player for a 23 game plus playoffs format. Feels a bit pricy.League Staff: When I need more players to fill out a roster, I have been helped to find free agents over and over again by the league office. They gelped me find a goalie for the season twice when our goalies had to quit the team. They helped me find a supplier to get new jerseys, and they often help to address complaints. They get an enormous amount of volume of complaints though (about penalties not called, appealing one game suspensions, about parity, etc.) so most get ignored unless its a serious matter and not just sour grapes.Parity: Parity has generally been good. The top teams win most games, but they're not blowouts. The league is active about moving teams up or down to help parity. All told, I've had a good time with this league and have met good people playing there for many years.

The reffs are not interested in the games. They just want to get out of there as quick as possible and keep the clock running. The league doesn't do a very good job of placing people in appropriate levels. You end up with beginners playing with people who have obviously been playing for quite some time. This makes the game less enjoyable for the beginners. I won't be returning. Poorly run league.

Reviews are all correct. Played in this league for years. Mostly won the championship every year and my team every year said how much they hate the quality from the league management/officials. I worked as a game supervisor for them for a bit to so got to witness first hand without playing on a team how little care they have. We chose this league because of the convenience of the location but my teams are done and moving to other leagues.
