Was a little short on actual cash, so I got some skittles and decided to ask for $5 cashback along with it. He quotes a 50 cent fee, which I'm fine with, but even though he already added the fee in, the debit machine charged me another fee ontop of that. Although it isn't much, I just don't like his attitude nor his shady business tactics.

The owner of this store is an incredibly rude, aggressive cheapskate! Why you ask? Let me explain...In order to use your debit card at his store, he charges a $0.25 per transaction. There is no minimum purchase, it's just $0.25 per transaction, period. I know several small business owners and I know that each debit transaction actually only costs $0.07. So he is definitely making a profit on this fee. Almost every Canadian business owner works this fee into their overhead as a cost of doing business. In fact, this is the only place I know of that charges extra on every purchase.I work very nearby and was in a rush, so I went into the store to grab some essentials. While I was making my purchase, the debit machine timed out due to a system error. When he went to put it through again, he had added an additional $0.25 onto the price. Seeing this, I explained to him that the transaction didn't go through and he shouldn't be charging me extra. He insisted on charging $0.50, so on principal, I told him politely that I didn't want to continue the transaction and asked for my card back.He then threw the card at me and screamed at me to get out of his store. Yes, you read that right, screamed. I was so shocked, I couldn't believe it. I have never been spoken to so rudely by a store owner in my life. I would strongly recommend you avoid this place and instead frequent somewhere that treats their customers with honestly and respect.
