Awesome!! If I could I'd give it 6 stars. Scott gave us excellent service! The food was perfect! like incredible! They do have vegetarian options which was necessary for me but also great regular irish pub fare.10/10 will go again.

An amazing little Irish Pub in the mountains. A great place for any age to gather to have a few drinks in a warm and cozy atmosphere. I would highly recommend stopping in and trying the place out. The wings tasted fantastic. Not greasy, good sized wings and very flavourful. The staff was very friendly and welcoming. See it for yourself!

Lovely interiors, friendly staff, a little crowded. Tried 2 pints of Okanagan Springs 1516 (Lager, 5%) and it tasted amazing. A must try place on your visit to Banff.

St James's Gate Irish Pub
As Brits’ we always like to stop in at an Irish or British pub when we travel. We visited here on a day trip from Calgary. There is certainly a nice feel to this pub and it is certainly authentic in its decor and ambiance. This would be a great pub/bar for drinking and partying at.The food menu we had at lunchtime had plenty of “home comforts” food choices. I opted for battered sausages and chips with curry sauce (a rarity in a British/Irish themed pubs in Canada) a real treat when back home, and my partner chose the lamb stew (a great Irish traditional meal). We both opted for coffee to drink. The pub was busy for a lunchtime and the two-three wait staff were certainly kept busy. We had heard how hard it is for businesses in Banff to get staff so it was understandable. Despite that, ordering drinks and food was quite quick and the food arrived timely too.Unfortunately the coffee was tepid when it arrived and was very strong. The dumplings in the stew were chewy which is not how they should be. Otherwise it tasted ok and would be considered average in my partners view, the sauce was a little too thick. I was advised that there was no curry sauce today, which was disappointing but they did supply HP sauce.Sadly the sausages were not really very authentic and were like the dumplings, quite chewy. I was served two but left one due to that. The fries (chips) were not hot and actually barely warm.Overall the pub itself is nice and would recommend for its authentic atmosphere. However if your looking for good authentic food, our experience of two dishes, this is not the place, sorry. We will come back in the summer. Hopefully the staffing problems will have gotten better and even more so, the food improves.

It was very relaxed midday and the staff were very fun and helpful. The cottage pie was the best I'd ever tasted, it was a perfect place to stop for lunch. I also tried the lamb stew, fish and chips, and scampi and chips, all were great

This place is a real melting pot of European cultures, namely British, Irish, Scottish and of course Australian (among others). It's a real taste of home because our Irish pubs are largely the same with very similar feel, atmosphere and food fare. The online menu might not be current (there were a few things missing from it on the menu in the pub), but it's likely they'll be re-added seasonally.

Quaint pub, located in downtown Banff. The waiter was excellent. Food was really good: I had the steak and Guinness pie. The pie was not the traditional pie, but rather encased in a pastry crust. Still very tasty. Of course, I had a Guinness to accompany the meal. Yum!!!

Stopped by the St.James Gate for the first since 2005 and glad to see it hasn't changed. Still top notch service and great food. My wife and I really enjoyed are meals as well as my mother in-law. I had the Gate Beef Bacon and cheese burger and boys oh boys it was just as good if not better then the Eddie Burger. Would highly recommend stopping by either for a pint or a meal.

Tour Guide currently trying different Banff restaurants so I can give Guest honest, first hand experience answers when they ask about dining options.Server was excellent as was the Beef Dip with Poutine. Heard Server mention that they'd been voted 'Best Fish & Chips in Banff' to the older couple from England (at the next table) and they really seemed to enjoy it.I'll be dropping by next time I get a craving for Fish & Chips while on Banff!
