Gustazo Cuban Kitchen & Bar - Cambridge
Food was flavorful and came out hot. I highly recommend the Empanadas. The service was fast and attentive and the servers knew the dishes. The only drawback was we were seated between the elevator door, the computer cash register and the door to the hallway to the bathrooms. Not ideal for enjoying the fabulous meal. It was also very loud there which somewhat hampered discussion of the different plates we tried.

The food was excellent, but unfortunately they forgot to put our order in and we waited over an hour before we got any of it. The basement is probably as well done as a basement could be, but still a basement. Overall, we really enjoyed it, but it was mentioned that the long wait was brought up to management, and in the end nothing was done about it. Just wasn't a good feeling.

Had takeout here a few times a while ago. I finally dined in and it was awesome! We didn’t order a single thing we didn’t like. We got the chicharonnes and empanadas first and they were delicious. The ropa vieja was so so good, along with the rice and beans paired with it. Same goes for the arroz con pollo. The churros were top notch and fresh, and the flan was great. Really good Cuban food.

Food was excellent. I recommend the ceviche and also the empanadas. The churros were also really great. We were able to walk in off the street on a Thursday without a reservation and get a table for two with no wait. The service was good however I gave a four because for our final order we asked for two drinks, empanadas and also two deserts. The server didn't ask if we wanted it in any specific order. The server delivered the desert first, followed by the empanadas about five minutes later and the drinks 5 minutes after that. We would have appreciated getting the desert last but I also realize we should have asked.

Easily the best Cuban restaurant in the Boston area. Amazing dishes with tons of creativity, good drinks, charismatic staff. They are also a pretty large restaurant spanning two floors, so there is a good amount of space. The ambiance is definitely better on the main floor than in the bottom floor, so try to get a table on ground level.

I've been meaning to try Gustazo for a while after hearing many rave reviews. It was pretty easy to get a reservation for Friday dinner earlier in the week -- I didn't realize that they had a spacious downstairs section, allowing for quite a lot of seating. We sat in the downstairs section which felt pretty secluded at first but was quickly filled up as peak dinner time approached. We had five people so were able to try a variety of dishes. Overall I would say that the food we had was quite heavy and creamy for my tastes, and I would probably try to order the lighter items on the menu if I returned.I'll categorize the items based on whether I would get them again or not.Would get again- Ceviche - We got the haddock ceviche and it was delicious. It was well-balanced with some creamy avocado sauce, acidity, crispy topping, and fresh fish.- Mussels ($18) - I actually really liked these. They were perfectly cooked though you had to remove the beards yourself. The sauce is good (though creamy).- Yuca frita ($11) - Great texture, good fry, dipping sauce was tasty and garlicky.Good, but probably wouldn't get again- Croquetas de jamon ($9) - Nice fry, basically just cheesy bacon filling. Too heavy.- Pulpo ($19) - It was cooked well but it was in a cheesy potato sauce which I didn't love (tasted like the inside of the croquetas).- Rodaballo con almejas ($36) - The fish and clams were well-cooked (though the clams had some sand in them). The sauce was again very creamy and I couldn't eat much of it.- Chicharrones ($16) - Crispy and well-cooked with guac and spicy salsa. Not my favorite preparation of pork belly I've had, but good texture.- Guava blossoms drink - Good guava flavor, quite strong.Definitely wouldn't get again- Cazulea de coliflor asada ($14) - We got this at the very end when we were hoping to have some veggie relief after all the cream overload. Should've known -- it was extremely creamy and you could barely see the cauliflower in all the thick cream. Very very heavy. Should've read the menu better :')- Tres leches cake ($10) - Nothing wrong with this one, it just wasn't anything special for me. The presentation was nice but the cake was a bit grainy and the coconut flavor was pretty dominant.- Churros con chocolate ($8) - I thought these were quite bad. It just tasted like fried dough and the churros didn't have any chew that I would hope for from a churro dough. The chocolate was decent.- Mango mojito mocktail - Just tasted like sparkling mango nectar, very sweet. If I were to come back I would definitely get the ceviche again. I would be much more careful about what I ordered because it seems like the majority of dishes were very heavy on the cream. For tapas style places I would probably go somewhere else like Barcelona down Mass Ave. I think overall Gustazo does flavors well but those flavors were overpowered by the creaminess for me. It was also pretty pricey for what we got, especially the large plates. Not for me, but glad I got to try it!

We had heard about this place a lot so we went here with our friends. We didn't have reservations, we just walked in and luckily the restaurant wasn't busy so they accommodated us. Most of us were veg so we were happy that they had many veg options, we ordered a few and I would highly recommend the Cauliflower Asada amongst all the veg plates. Gauc was also nice but others were just too oily. The chocolate cigar dessert and the flan was deliciously. The only annoying thing was that the server was just too much interfering. Rather, she was constantly asking how are you doing"

This is one of the best restaurants I’ve been to. The food was out of this world; months later and I was still thinking about the ropa vieja. I was blown away by the presentation, the flavors; truly every aspect about this dinner was perfect. I would 1000% recommend for everyone to try the food here!!

One of those places you really have to go, if you're ever on Mass Ave. Every dish I've tried so far has been full of that authentic Cuban passion and wonderfully flavored.Go for the yuca fries! You won't regret them

One of the best tapas places in Cambridge and Porter Sq area. There is a huge parking lot in the back which is a plus. The ambiance is cozy and slightly dated. Overall the food and service were excellent. We ordered several small plates along with drinks. Management was also very courteous.
