We had a wonderful experience at Da Taste on our way home from golf. From the time we stepped inside we were greeted and taken care of in a warm and welcoming way. There was no pressure to order and the staff and owner answered all our questions and even guaranteed that if we weren’t happy - $$$ back! BUT that wasn’t going to be necessary; the portion, the taste and the speed were great. The owner even blessed us with a little extra because she say I was reluctant to order the “jerk”….I explained I am often disappointed. It was such a thoughtful and over the top gesture. The serving staff did everything to get to know us (and other patrons) and everyone who walked in the door was greeted like family. If we are ever back in Newcastle we would definitely pay Da Taste another visit. Thank you for blessing us, caring for us and feed us till our bellies were full!!!

Staff and ambience of the restaurant were great. I really wanted to love this restaurant but unfortunately I got sick after eating from there. Everything I had eaten that day was normal except I had tried Da Taste for the first time so I know it came from the restaurant. On Friday, I ordered jerk BBQ wings, a side of plantain and a pineapple rum punch. It tasted fine but thinking back, the plantain was deep fried and questionable but I left feeling okay. However Saturday and into Sunday I had all the symptoms of the stomach flu. I was vomiting and running a high fever. I couldn't get out of bed. Be careful. This was my first time ever getting something like this after eating out. I don't think I'll be returning.

Placed an order over the phone for pick up. Was greeted as soon as I walked through, very welcoming vibe. Everything smelled amazing in there. Staff were great to speak with and picked up our hot order. Had the Chicken Roti and Jerk Chicken dinner. Good portions are huge and so damn tasty! Everything had the right bite and so glad we stopped in to check this establishment out. Great job everyone!

We finally made it out to Da Taste after hearing great things and ended up doing takeout rather than dine-in as we had somewhere to be. We were told it would be 20 minutes which was no problem but after half hour there were no updates. I walked over and was told 10 more minutes. Then after 50 minutes I went for an update and they said just finishing the potatoes. After 60 minutes we finally got our food and were offered a short apology for the delay.The food was absolutely incredible though, we weren't impressed by the service on this first visit but will give it another chance because of how impressed we were with the food.

We've been going here for years. The food is always excellent, portions are large and the prices are reasonable. The atmosphere is relaxed and friendly. And the staff welcome you like family. My grandchildren love going there! And they love Antoinette. We have eaten in, taken out and had delivery. They have also catered for special events.

The Best & Real Authentic Jamaican Food in Town.Da Taste offers Authentic Jamaican foods and tastes that you have not tried elsewhere and as a result you will have a memory of that True Jamaican meal.That is what we look for in a Jamaican restaurant and we have got it @ Da Taste.The quality in preparation in the food and, of course, the service always makes for a great experience.Very professional service with knowledgeable and friendly staff.The food is great and affordable.The Best Escovitch we had since we visited Negril and Montego Bay.All waiters are enthusiastic.Would encourage everyone to visit.Highly recommend for a special occasion.Our experience was beyond excellent. 100/10.Thank you so Much Chef Mike for such a fantastic experience during my Birthday.We will definitely return and recommend to our friends and family...

Da Taste was Da-LiciousBased on several recommendations we decided to dine in for a Friday night dinner.We were quickly greeted and seated by a hostess. She brought us our menus and set out cutlery which came in a white linen napkin.We were informed that they were offering half price chicken wings on this night.After checking out the menu we settled on an order of the jerk BBQ chicken wings, a chicken Jamaican patty, beef Jamaican patty, fried chicken dinner and jerk chicken roti.The Jamaican patty and chicken wings were served first. It was all delicious.The chicken wings had an excellent fry on them. The jerk spice was also pretty spicy which I enjoyed. Perhaps some of the best chicken wings I had ever been served. At 1/2 price it was an excellent deal and I would have them again.Our main entrees came and everything was steaming hot. Our server let us know if we needed any extra sauce and gravy we were welcome to it at any time.The jerk chicken roti looked amazing. Had excellent flavour and seasoning. The roti itself was also delicious.The fried chicken dinner came with coleslaw, rice and beans. Everything tasted great. The coleslaw I enjoyed a lot. The rice and beans were delicious too. The fried chicken was mind blowing. I enjoyed it thoroughly and would recommend it to all. It was like no other fried chicken I had ever had.The service was fantastic. Both servers that we dealt with were incredibly friendly and professional. Some of the best service I have had during a dine in restaurant.Overall the experience was an excellent one. I was very impressed with the food and will be returning to Da Taste for sure.
