On of the best experiences of my life. I booked the 1 hour intro flight over Banff and it went so great. It was a surprise for my husband and the people who helped me arrange everything were so accommodating which I really appreciated. Ray was our pilot and he was so friendly!! We learned so much from him and made the experience that much better. Thank you to everyone at the Calgary Flying Club!

I moved to Calgary from Ottawa, motivated by the organized and professional atmosphere of CFC and disenchanted by my experience at previous flight schools. I completed my CPL, multi engine rating, Group 1 IFR and instructor rating here in under a year. I wouldn't change a thing. CFC is a well-oiled machine...they boast an older fleet of 172's but they are very well maintained and constantly flying, 2 Piper Seneca's to keep up with their multi and multi IFR demands, a Citabria, and an excellent range of instructors. One of my favourite features of the Club is their after-hours room! It remains open at night even when the regular facilities are closed, so pilots can have the space to flight plan and prepare for their night flights. I no longer work there but would recommend this place to anyone!

Several months ago I went for an intro flight at the Calgary Flying Club where my pilot was 30 mins late, offering no explanation or apology. Instead it felt very rushed with little explanation about anything in the aircraft. When I returned looking for a tour of the school I was met by a sales pitch and booking without seeing past a briefing room. Since then I've had instructors late and cancellations 20 minutes before scheduled lessons. No apologies or making it right for wasting my time and money. There is very little structure to the training. They don't follow their own syllabus making it difficult to prepare for future flights. It feels very much like people trying to build hours and move on at the student's expense. As for the aircraft the majority are old and beat up compared to other schools in the area.Building is nice enough, food on site and never had much trouble booking aircraft. Most of the staff are also friendly.Overall the experiences at CFC turned me off flying altogether. It's very much run like a club and not a school or business. If you're looking for a flight school know what you're in for. Never met the CFI and doesn't look like management here is involved at all with the students. Some leadership would go a long way to making this place the best in Springbank. Disappointing given the rich history of this club.

I had the opportunity to fly with a few flying clubs/school during my training and I can say that the Calgary Flying Club is awesome flight school with amazing views if you do some XC into the mountains.Unlike other flight schools/clubs, I found they offered monthly promo discount off of their fleet. (At one point I was paying around 157/hr on Cessna 172 with their august promo 2021. Most schools don't even offer such promos ever, so this was an added bonus)Looking at the previous reviews. I did feel that yes some of their planes look beat up. But the majority of them are well equip for what you're paying for them. At the end of the day they all fly the same. If you always want a nice plane just book in advance and you will have one with two G5's and GTN 650XI

The intro flight was a surprise for my husband's birthday. The instructor Tim was professional and made the whole experience amazing. We did some sight seeing and my husband got to do so much flying. Thank you very much! Highly recommended.

If you are looking for an interesting and cool experience in Calgary, book a intro (sightseeing) flight with CFC!Took my Dad here for a birthday sightseeing flight because we both had been interested in flying for a while. It was amazing, Andy, our pilot/instructor was really informative and you could tell how passionate he is about both flying and teaching.I was expecting only sightseeing but when we checked in, he asked about any interest either of us had in learning, and after telling him I did, he said he would let me try flying! I thought he was kidding at first, but he gave us a really great mini-lesson before, and I got to be in control of the airplane for quite a while once up in the air! Such an amazing experience, really cool!Of course the views are beautiful and we got an hour so we really got to see a lot. Even just as a sightseeing flight, it was fantastic, but being involved and having a little lesson really made it cool. It was really well priced and it was easy to book. I would 100% do it again.

I love the CFC. All the instructors are incredible people, super enthusiastic and encouraging. The energy of the place is something you want to experience - it's somewhere you want to learn. Most of the planes are a bit older but all well maintained and very nice to fly. I will recommend this place every single time.

Excellent intro flight. The Instructor (Akhil) was very skilled, knowledgeable, and confident. We felt in complete safety the whole time, even though it was moderately turbulent" flying conditions (felt a lot more then moderate to me). Answered all my dumb questions with patience

If you're looking for more than just a flight school, a community of amazing talented & hard working instructors. This is the school for you! Holding 12 Cessna 172, Two PA34-200T, 1 C182, 1 Floatplane, and 1 Aerobatic aircraft on top of two Simulators! Offering everything from Private Pilot, Night Rating, IFR, Multi-engine, Multi-IFR, Commercial Pilot, aerobatic, float rating, and instructor, ETC!! Instructors take time with their students to make sure they are prepared for their exams and checkride, even keeping in touch after the student has received a license. Renting and lesson hourly rates are impressively low making getting your wings more accessible to more avgeeks. The club also has onsite Ground School for courses, plus a large gathering area upstairs with a double patio area with BBQ, and a local run cafe located inside the main building.
