Buyer Beware: I contacted Derrick to buy some shipping barrels for my mom. I explained that it was extremely important that they were new.He assured me they were ‘virgin’, his words. The price was lower than other places I had researched but, I thought he was able to keep the cost down because he buys them in bulk.My mother, being the trusting person she is, paid upfront via eTransfer.He cancelled the first agreed upon time for delivery, not a big deal; however, when he showed up the following day, he had a truckload of, very much, used and unassembled barrels. We waited some time for him to find the matching lids and fasteners. Some of the lids were even wet with…I don’t even know.I was very upset and told him this is not what we discussed. I explicitly said they needed to be brand new. He pretended not to recall the conversation we just had 24 hours prior.He said he would give us our money back but charge us for delivery. My mother gave in and accepted the used barrels, because seeing as how shady Derrick was, we may never have received a refund.He had a lovely assistant, Debora, who felt bad for us and tried to pick the best ones out of the bunch.The whole interaction was upsetting but I’m most upset because it’s my mother who didn’t get what she needed. Imagine someone messing with your mom!If you are going to do business with him, I’d advise you get everything in writing first and see the goods before you send payment.Being tricked out of your hard earned money can leave a bad taste in your mouth, for a long time.
