45 Mann Residence

I never taught that living in a rez would be such a pain in the...There is no such thing as a receptionist at this rez which btw, collects 967$/person in each uni or single goes to 1500$. Dont tell me they can't afford it.You shop online? Well you have from 7:30am to 3:30pm to go and collect it from mailing services which is 10 min away by walk. Also if you work full time and ask them to leave it at 90U cuz they at least have a receptionist, THEY GIVE YOU S**T for it.Internets cuts for a long period of hours.They charge you if you forgot your key in the room.Can hear almost everything in each room.I don't even know if they do regular maintainace or cleaning because it's always dirty.Also be prepared to deal with random chip cards disabling. It's so wonderful when you go back to your place after a long day and can't get to your unit and have to walk all the way to 90U.This rez is, hands down, one of the biggest rip offs.

Great newer building, just to the south of the campus. Easy to get to a d conveniently close to the highway

If you're single occupant, $1500/month is gross overpayment. If you're 1 or 2-4 occupants, paying roughly $900/month each is gross overpayment because the University makes $3k/month on the unit and will not lift a finger when a problem occurs.My room was near 30 celcius everyday during winter and I had windows open and heat off - University's response was that they could do nothing because of CentralVac system.Internet is slow and at times absent - University's response has yet to be seen.Locks were changed and no notice was given of the change - I went to dump garbage and was locked out and then had to walk all the way to 90U to get a new key bare-footed and in boxer shorts (left phone inside and roomate was at work).All problems must be reported through Maximo - impersonal problem solving method that enables ZERO accountability on part of University (I submitted 5 requests to have stovetop recalibrated).No cable - you don't understand what an annoying inconvenience this is until you go through it.Kitchen drawers fit little to nothing - bigger utensils and untensils tray had to be on countertop. Little to no space for pots and pans also.Bedrooms permit two feet worth of room around each side of bed.... and for the regular Joe and Jane who don't fork up $1500/month to live solo, the University is collecting $2400-3200/month for incompetent service, complete apathy at times, and cramped living space.En suite bathrooms are nice, though small.

Absolutely awful internet period. Can't even handle small load applications like Instagram or Facebook. If you choose this res you better invest in a hefty data plan because the wifi WILL fail on you. And when you try to complain they will not respond or tell you there's nothing wrong.When you need in-person help be prepared to walk all the way across campus to 90U.Also, the sensor locks seem to change/ mess up frequently which leads to yet another long walk. It's constant technical problems here please shy away.

Hardly know where to start... UofO staff have walked into our apartment multiple times, once without notice (which is illegal). We've had our key fobs disabled without any notice (they claim we received notice, we never did). Internet will go down for 12 hours+ at a time, with no notice. Hot water has also been turned off without notice.Only one elevator worked the first two months we were here. Walls between rooms are paper thin - and all of that is just scratching the surface. And all of this for twice the price of a similarly-sized room off campus.Needless to say, can't wait for our lease to end.

its definitely a nice residence, with relatively well kept amenities. However, management isn't perfect, and the wifi isn't stable. But the quality of the rooms and kitchen are great!

Where to start...This place is not worth the price at all. The walls do nothing to block noise from other rooms. You can always hear everything no matter how hard you try to avoid it. Blinds are kinda useless in the room. Bathroom is awkwardly arranged especially if you are unfortunate and don't get the big one.The worst part about this place is the internet. Constant connectivity issues and terrible quality. I have no idea why they just don't use a router system like they do in the Friel Residences. They are so much better compared to the ridiculous system they have in this place.There is also no security at night so anyone can pretty much sneak in if a person leaves the door open for too long. Absolutely not worth it all for the price. Do yourself a favor and find a room in Hyman Soloway or Friel if you are a second year or higher. Its passable at best if you're taking it as a sublet for a reduced price but its definitely not worth the regular price.

For the price this place really sucks. There's constant problems with the place, hot water not working, A/C not working while it's 25+ degrees outside (making the apartments 30+ degrees), elevators breaking, the internet is terrible with constant drop outs and slow speeds, for a building less than 2 years old this shouldn't happen. But beyond all of this the absolute worst part is the administration, they're terrible. They constantly say they're working on improving things but nothing comes to furition and they're the SLOWEST at fixing any major issue. Plus they disable everyone's key cards for security reasons" usually around the start and end of summer. This locks everyone in the residence out of their rooms requiring a re-activation by the one staff member at the main residence office (leading to long waits for re-activation). The best part about this was the notice of the key card deactivation

Rooms are just big enough, front floor has several activities and sports tables to play with, wifi password is a nightmare, and common room is super tiny.For the same price, you can just live Annex Residence for a much better overall experience.

I am really not a picky tenant but... 45 mann was amazingly bad- Bad wifi that has died once a month or more, and is generally ridiculously slow- One of the elevators did not work for a week+ before it was fixed- Management is impossible to deal with; each person you contact will tell you to contact someone else- Many apartments were at 28 degrees all winter, while others were in the 10-15 range because of crappy construction- Still have to go to mailing service for packages (minor inconvenience, but... a struggle when you work in the summer and the mail room hours are 7:30 to 4:30)- No receptionist, and no buzzing system so random people will just walk around the building, and even knock on your door (e.g. drunk people, political campaigners, random students looking to print essays, random person looking for a drink?, random people high off their asses?, ...)- You will smell the weed from other floors, as well as hear the soccer guys in Minto until 11pm :)- Really tiny rooms by the way, don't be deceived- No space in the kitchen for storage, esp. if you are more than 2 people- TV is just TV, can't really connect by wifi because wifi is slow- I'll probably remember a bunch more terrible things tomorrow morning, but that's it for now :)- Dishwasher is okay I guess- So is the in-suite laundry- AC blows from directly above the desk, so sitting to work there means terrible headaches and really cold heads- Live here if you have no other option :)
