Better at Home Fort St John (North Peace Senior’s Society)
Better at Home is an excellent concept which helps Seniors stay in their home as long as possible by helping them with Housekeeping, Landscaping (Cutting Lawn), Snow Removal, Visits, etc. The program is funded by Government, United Way and Charitable Donations. The program in Fort St. John is terrible! The services delivered to Senior’s do not have any accountability…meaning, Laura, the program coordinator does not manage the contracts (for example, the double billing by Dynamic Snow and Mow to Seniors and then same bill to Better at Home) without any amount of oversight. There are no audits to ensure that the paid contractor is actually doing the job on the date that they are supposed to do. Grass cutting might happen once a month and a terrible job at that. Laura has no interest in administering the Better at Homes program in a professional and courteous manner. If you contact her (multiple times), you will not get a call back. She makes an appointment but doesn’t show up for the appointment and does not apologize for anything! I suspect Laura has a select few Seniors that she caters but I can say with certainty that there are several Seniors in Fort St. John that DO NOT get the promises of the Better at Home program! Staff that run the program, are paid to do a job (NOT Volunteer)evidently there is zero accountability for the positions, which means the intended recipients (Seniors) just get shafted.
