Markham Village Recycling Depot

Very well run place to get rid of your various waste products. Friendly staff to help you and lots of parking. The cardboard compactor isn’t huge so remember to cut down your cardboard if it’s huge and also flatten it. Sometimes it’s full so call ahead if you’re bringing a lot to save yourself a return trip.I also got rid of styrofoam and electronics here. You can also buy new or exchange broken blue and green bins here (for a small fee).5 stars highly recommend!

Awesome workers, lots of entitled residents.I’ve been going to the various recycle depots in Markham for years, and the staff there are always super friendly and helpful.The city doesn’t provide them a phone there to can call and ask questions, nor does the city update info on its website. This is NOT the fault of the depot attendants! Complain and argue with the city as they control those aspects, not the depot attendants. I’ve lost count of the amount of rude, entitled residents I’ve encountered over the years, and this seems to have gotten worse during the lockdown and more so after.To reiterate, great staff, lots of rude residents. All the info for what constitutes garbage/recyclables is online or on the app; it’s 2022/23. Also, many “residents” dump on the premises, especially after hours, but the city continues to do nothing.

Lots of other reviews about helpful staff but they certainly weren't working today. My son went over with a bunch of cardboard and was there at 17 minutes to closing time and the woman said she isn't taking anyone after another man that was there. My son pointed out that he arrived before the other man and her response was 'well, he has less stuff'. The city wants us to recycle but responses like this makes it difficult to do the right thing. Get it together!

Staffs are very helpful and efficient. I got my green bin replaced in 2 minutes. Good job.

Great staff at this location. I showed up with a car full of loose styrofoam and the guy working there grabbed a huge bag and helped me gather all of it and struck up a good conversation while he was at it.

OK. Went couple of times, staffs are nice so far. Except it doesn't tell you they stop allowing people coming in after a cut off time for cleaning earlier and I guess they choose 1:00-2:00 now instead. But you wouldn't know until u see the sign on site.
