Viking Tent and Trailer Park
Run by a lovely young couple but since Covid they are having trouble getting staff. Sites are either sheltered by trees or out in the open and you can hear trucks on highway beep their horns throughout the night. They gave us seniors discount and we didn't have to ask. Pool not in operation, no lining and it was very hot during our stay and could have used a dip. Water good quality. Good local for running around to see the sites, Elliott Lake is one, a very nice isolated beach a small drive away. They have a small bakery that had rave reviews but it isn't always open and I found the apple fritters chewy.

This place is under new management, according to some locals I talked to, and I found both men who work here extremely kind. I'd just had a close call on my bike and arrived shaken and semi- in shock. The owner's friend helped me carry my bags to a site and was extremely accommodating. The owner approached me the next morning asking if I was okay, and how my trip was going. Rain was in the forecast and he offered me a place to stay a the campsite for free if I wanted to hang around another day (regular rates were 25.00/night on a long weekend). He got me a coffee and we had a good conversation. Showers were good and clean! It sounds like they have big plans for the place over the next few years and I would love to return and check it out.

We loved this small, well cared for overnight spot on the Trans Canada Highway. The owners were very welcoming, and we had a nice chat with them. They operate a snack shack with home baked goods on weekends, but Melanie offered to bake us rolls mid week. They were delicious! Wishing this young enterprising couple good luck as they grow their campground!

Nice hosts, snack shack where you can get a very affordable blueberry fritter.Only thing missing is picnic tables at the tent sites but otherwise one of the most affordable tenting spots in Ontario.

We stayed here for 2 nights while we were riding the beautiful roads from iron bridge to Chapleau/Wawa/sault saint marie. It is just what we needed! Very friendly owners and they make some pretty amazing fritters. Firewood is a great price and the long term campers are nice and friendly and very quiet. Road is a little noisy at times but not an issue.

I was travelling by motorcycle from Calgary looking for a camp site for my tent after a long day of travelling. It was 9:18 pm aug 6 and there was a bit it light left from the sun going down. I past a campground that was closed with gates and next to that was the Viking tent and trailer campground. There was a vertical white sign on a post at the entrance that said open. I went in and saw a shack that was closed. I stopped my motorcycle at the office and turned it off. I went to the window to read the information. It said the office was closed at 4 but gave no instructions for after hours. There is no gate and I could see a few empty lots. We have a handful of campgrounds in Alberta that after hours that you can set up camp and pay in the morning. I thought this may be one of those so I proceeded to a spot. I began unpacking when two men came up to me , one saying he was the owner. Their first words after introducing them selves as the owner was to say they saw me “blow by” the front entrance. I replied that I stopped to read the instructions at your office and all I want to do is to set up a tent and I offered to attend the office in the morning. I pointed out it gave no instructions for after hours. The reply was that they said they saw me “blow by” the front entrance and now that means I am a trespasser. Their demeanour was confrontational and unprofessional, suited to humiliate me as much as possible. The management here cannot tell the difference between a trespasser and a respectful paying customer. Their signage posted at the front post that says open has no integrity. The instructions posted do not cover all the bases and is confusing. Extremely poor customer service. I was forced to drive 45 minutes more in the dark by motorcycle through wildlife night danger signs and was unsafe.

This was our first time stopping here. Great location for people needing a fast and convenient stop right on highway 17.Cost was great and facilities exceeded expectations. We stopped in durning “closed” hours yet the owners were pleasant and very welcoming. We stopped in at the bake shop on our way out and got some brownies which were fantastic. Will absolutely be stopping here on our future trips.
