I took the women's currents kayaking course at Surge Narrows off of Quadra, and the experience was truly one of the best 4 days of lessons I've had. Asger and Lee created a fun, safe and very technical event that elevated my skills immensely. As my key instructor, Asger listened to what the students wanted to learn, assessed our abilities and interests, and responded with lessons each day that built upon each other so that by the final day we were safely, confidently and skillfully navigating currents and able to self-rescue among them. I highly recommend Best Coast for their skills training.

We recently purchased a Current Design Solstice GTS from the team at BestCoast. Thanks to Asger's superb talents, the process was seamless, efficient and most pleasant. Asger was informative, prompt in answering questions, quick to respond to emails and calls and great to work with. The shop itself has a wide range of accessories as well. Great place to buy a kayak.

Amazing service. I arrived five minutes after someone bought the last electric SUP pump. Instead of telling me I was out of luck they made a quick phone call and found another one in the city for me to go buy. Would recommend this store to anyone.

I had the pleasure of taking a Paddle Canada Level 2 skills course through BestCoast Outfitters and was extremely impressed with my experience. Lee's passion for kayaking, extensive knowledge and paddling expertise will give you comfort and confidence in kayaking in more challenging conditions. You will learn advanced strokes, rescues, navigation, weather, tides & currents, trip planning, risk management, paddling in currents, towing, and much more. If you want to improve and become more confident in paddling in more challenging and rougher seas, I very highly recommend taking a course with Lee at BestCoast.

Excellent support trying to find the right kayak. I was looking to upgrade and was testing out many different kayaks. I became very interested in a Current Designs Sisu or Prana, but there was nowhere on the mainland to take them for a test paddle. I contacted BestCoast and they arranged for me to paddle a Sisu and Sisu LV. I was still not convinced, and after some effort Asger found a Prana for me to try. He arranged a time and went with me for a long paddle. We had both a Sisu and Prana with us, giving me a chance to test them side by side.This convinced me to buy a Prana LV.BestCoast handled the custom order very well and got a delivery date that was months earlier than anyone else could achieve.A great buying experience and I am really enjoying my new kayak thanks to the team at BestCoast.

Best Coast outfitters is my go to kayaking store! The staff are extremely knowledgeable, as they are active paddlers. The selection is great and they can bring in whatever you need if it’s not in the store. They are also super quick to respond to any questions. I live in the Kootenays but spend a considerable amount of time on the island paddling and I am so grateful for this store!

Great kayak shop and knowledgeable staff. Attended a very informative talk on kayak fitness one evening at the store (hoping for more of these!) Also had the privilege to go out with Best Coast on a 4 day currents course to Surge Narrows - an amazing learning experience in a world class setting. Lee has been great with allowing me to demo one of their Current Designs kayaks, pointing out the details of differences between a number of models, and offering really helpful advice on builds.
