They open at 12pm but the staff isn't ready then. They take their time at 12pm to vacuum. If you're planning to eat here, the earliest to come is 12:20. The food is alright but more options at leslie/finch plaza.

A nice 'hidden' authentic Cantonese restaurant in Bayview Woods Plaza at Finch and east of Bayview. Decent food quality, portions were generous. Restaurant decor was dated but very clean. Service was a bit laid back but friendly in general. Prices were reasonable. Will definitely go back.

Authentic hong kong food with good value. The seafood is fresh. The geoduck, crab and beef are delicious and highly recommended. Not too salty and not too oily. It is really busy on a friday night. Line up started at 5:30. Reservation is great.

Year over year, Sun Star Chinese Cuisine continues to satisfy patrons with classic Cantonese style (and more) dishes. And I have to agree that there seems to be less salt used compared to similar restaurants. Simple to higher end, the kitchen executes it all without a long wait even when the tables are full (it's not a large restaurant either). Service staff work with the smooth efficiency of many years of experience in April 2019. Parking does get very crowded in the plaza lot at peak times but usually there are spots left at the back if you are willing to walk all the way around. Enjoy!

Neighbourhood low key family oriented Chinese Cuisine with emphasis of great taste and good value. We ordered lobsters, steamed whole fish, quick house stir fry, spicy sea eels, fried rice. I feel that is satisfying. Friendly and prompt service, ample free parking in front of restaurant. I recommend, best to be there before 6:30 pm during weekends, call ahead to book a table.

My go-to restaurant whenever eating with family. The food is consistently good here. You can customize your dishes by telling them less oil and/or sodium and they will actually do it! Many other restaurants, the waiter will tells you “yes” but the dishes will still come out very salty and oily. I am so glad to see they are surviving through COVID.

Tried Sun Star for takeout after many years knowing it was there but hadn’t gotten around to. It was great. The food had that traditional Cantonese wok hay flavour. Wasn’t overly salty or greasy. I went in to pick it up and it gave me nostalgic vibes of those older Chinese restaurants I went to with my grandparents as I was growing up. Great to have this option south of Highway 7.
