12th Avenue Clinic

I went there to take the test. The doctors who I talked are so sweet and really nice. I don’t speak English very well but they were so patient to me and they suggested me to use translation which they have so I was able to explain symptoms which I have. They are professional. The receptionist is also nice to all of patients. I really recommend to see a doctor to everyone at the place. I was really comfortable talking with them.

Understaffed

Two days in a row I showed up before opening, and two days in a row I was turned around without being helped. I’ve used this clinic once before and it was a good experience, helpful advise and non-judgemental. When I last showed up, I rolled in 15 minutes early and there were 4 people in front of me. As the 5th person, I was turned around saying there was too many people already. A walk-in clinic should be able to support more than 4 people (or 4minutes worth of opportunity to be helped). Im just disappointed that the B.C. CDC isn’t very helpful. Long story short, if you want to drop in, show up dumb early and bring some reading material. That’s what I’ll be trying next.

With an urgent need to be tested for UTI this 70 yr old waited all weekend until the clinic would open on Monday (so the website info stated). I made my way to the clinic via bus and a huff-puff struggle up the hill, just to find the clinic closed. No notice on the door, no update of hours on the website, I literally feel disregarded, disrespected and my dignity trampled onto the ground. The fact that I spent half a day to get here, is evidently not important. Let me hobble home again and forget about the bloody discharge and associated pain ….. I’m just a senior and quite disposable in our society today.And btw, forget about calling ahead, unless you are ok with listening to endless tinny repeats of elevator music that’ll grate anybody’s nerves.
