I have banked with Meridian for years, back to when it was called Hepcoe Credit Union. I've always found the staff to be friendly enough, but I've often been disappointed by their staff not being very knowledgeable. At one point I wanted to withdraw from my locked in RRSP, - they old me it wasn't possible, but after looking into it further, I found that it was not only possible, but that I was able to do so just by filling in a form and getting approval. Other times their staff have been unaware of regular bank practices - I sometimes withdraw funds from my regular RRSP savings account. I understood when a trainee didn't yet know how to handle this process, but I was quite alarmed to find that a more experienced teller didn't know how to do this and told me that I may not be able to withdraw my funds. After she consulted with another teller, she did it for me, but it took a long time and some frustration on my part.In fact I have done this at this branch and another branch without any issues in the past. This same teller has told me on 4 separate occasions that she doesn't think I can withdraw from this same RRSP account, one of those times she was training a new teller. I would think at some point she would remember me or at least remember the 4 times that she has learned that it IS possible to withdraw from this type of RRSP account.Another time I went to them for financial advice for my investments and their investment adviser didn't seem to have much knowledge about her speciality. I transferred in a locked in RRSP from another source and the adviser made several errors that had to be corrected several days later, and when I wanted information on investing the funds it seems that they're only schooled in one or two products so I had to wait until a travelling adviser was on site to give me more informed advice.Even when arranging my mortgage, the mortgage adviser wasn't fully aware of what they could do for me, what he told me I was getting and what i ended up with was not what I was lead to expect, yet another example of a staff member who didn't seem to have a full grasp on their speciality and had to amend what he had 'sold' me several days later.This to me isn't the greatest customer service and it doesn't build confidence in me that they're giving me the best advice and that my money is in the best hands. I feel for anyone who uses financial institution, most of them have a tendency to make us feel indebted to them for approving our requests for financial help, BUT we must remember that we are customers buying products. Many people feel a little intimidated by financial institutions, but remember it's your money that you're spending. Even making a mortgage payment, YOU are spending money to purchase a product from them and you have the advantage because they're the one's who need of your business and not the other way around - you have a choice where you bank..I always thought I would get more personal service from Meridian and this was what prompted me to move away from conventional banks, but when it comes down to it they treat you just the same as the banks do; when you need money it's hard to get them to help you and when you have money they seem far more likely to allow you to buy their credit. So when you actually really do need a loan, they still only consider the numbers and your relationship with them doesn't seem to be a factor in their decision. Personal service and long term honest relationships seem to be a thing of the past even with credit unions it seems, you might own shares, but you're never really treated like an owner!

Great and friendly staff, they don't try to upsell you on anything, they help you honestly based on what your needs and requirements are. They are also very transparent with all things in regards to their accounts.

After 15 calls, and spoken to only two live persons who informed me my husband had two accounts only with them, when he actually had 5. Left me shocked at their inability to answer their phones, ot to call back as promised. They also insisted at first that my account was a scam. Left me feeling very unsafe banking with them.

Went to this branch yesterday to deposit money I very rarely come to this branch only when I’m in Durham .The teller took my deposit I signed for it everything‘s good and then calls me five minutes later when I’m driving my daughter to daycare telling me that I gave her the wrong amount I said no I didn’t and told her how much I gave her she said “I was just counting the money now and you gave me the wrong amount” I said no I gave you $1200 and then an extra $2.50 to cover an E transfer fee It sounded like she was trying to make it sound like it wasn’t her fault for not counting it correctly I guess she was in front of management when she called me back I just think this is extremely unprofessional it’s one thing to make a mistake but to call me back and make it seem like it’s my fault when you clearly just can’t count properly is beyond me mistakes happen every day but take responsibility for your own actions . I ended up being so annoyed I did not go back to the branch I just transferred money in the account so they can take the extra amount out that she missed counted incorrectly because I don’t deal with incompetence especially from somewhere that supposed to know how to count

Love this financial institution... The service is friendly and quick. You walk in and they greet you by name. I will never deal with any other institutions other then Meridian. I have switched all my banking with them. Thank you for all your hard work Meridian staff.

I have dealt with this branch for years, and they have always been efficient. They have set me up with different products (RSP's, Credit Cards, etc) and I have always been happy. Great bank.

Worst banking institution. No one seems to know what they are doing. And when you ask for calls back...no one calls.Wouldn't even give it a one.

Financial Service Advisor has no clue what he is doing. Put a request to redeem an RESP on July 29 and it is August 21 and nothing has been deposited. The funds were due at the University a week ago. I don't get the impression customer service is of any importance here.
