Windermere Basin Park
Desolate but a good place to go for a solitary walk. Bleak but a great place to see an industrial landscape and a returning wetland, a study in contrasts. Difficult to reach except by car. The police have found human remains here so perhaps caution is wise unless of course you wish to remain or have serious business to attend to.Unfortunately, dogs are not allowed.

The most beautiful basin in the area! I bring my family here every year for a delightful cleansing romp, the pH of the water really exfoliates the skin in ways one can only find in a product usually made by the likes of Clorox. This gem has all the charm of a tailings pond. Highly recommended!

Windermere Basin is great for bird enthusiasts! If you're not really into birds, you might find this area a bit boring as it is an industrial area. There is a lookout area offers a nice view. The trails closer to the beach/lake offer amazing sunset views

This rehabilitated brownfield is one of Hamilton's hidden birdwatching gems. There is a trail throughout the site that provides a pleasant walk, and showcases both the recovering meadow, and the nearby canal. Birdhouses line the trails, and provide great nesting sites for swallows during the warmer months. Ducks often congregate within the canals. The real treat is the constructed wetland visible from a viewing area near the parking lot. This area attacts a myriad number of migratory birds, including terns, herons and shorebirds. Local birders are often seen with their scopes, observing the diversity of avian life.

There is nothing much to say about the place as it is in industrial area. Port looks great from this place. Safety is utmost important.

Very safe with all the Police vehicles and crime scene tape. Parking lot could use some lighting, but now that I think of it the darkness is probably a contributing factor to why the Police are there blocking it off for the time being...

Great spot for birdwatching with a scope. Dog walkers also use the park. The entrance is small and not easy to spot, right after a large building.

I went to bird watch and enjoyed that. Met some regulars. Walked the short circular trail. Gravel parking lot. Easy access. Nice green area.

Just off the main beat. Nice for an alternate walk in relative seclusion, peace and quiet. A good stress-free dog walk. Try to respect that the area’s focus is on birds and wildlife.
