Halibut House Fish & Chips
I spent $50 on 2 pieces of halibut with chips and a small slice of cheesecake.You should be ashamed of yourselves for serving that order of fish and chips to me, or anyone else for that matter. It was absolutely terrible. The fish was so overcooked that it was hard inside. Past the point of rubber and straight to hard. The French fries tasted like they sat there all day and were simply reheated. It may sound like I'm just a complainer. However, I have been a customer at other halibut house locations, and I have never been so dissatisfied with my meal. I felt cheated out of the $50 that I spent. The cheesecake was the only good thing about the meal.I will say this, though. You were very friendly, polite and quick with my order. You accommodated my request for extra tartar sauce and vinegar. The restaurant was very clean and inviting as well.Please take this review that I have written as constructive criticism so that you strive to do better for future customers so that they do not have the same experience that I had.

A nice place to have breakfast for a great price. Everything on those plates in my included pics came to 20 bucks with tax.I haven't tried the fish n chips yet but will do soon. So far the breakfast gets a five out of five!

Good atmosphere, nice and clean, good looking place. Great deal for breakfast. Still some kinks to work out as our order came wrong (1 poached egg instead of 2 over medium?) but they were very fast to fix it. I would suggest writing down the order to eliminate mistakes. Coffee was decent. Was not told Rye was an extra charge when we ordered it so the bill was a bit of a surprise. Overall a decent place and you can't beat the value for the breakfast special (we added an extra egg for $1).Tip- Please don't automatically give people straws in their drinks. I would have liked a wrapped straw so I could have said no, as we don't need to use single use plastics. Save the environment.Edit: thank you for the quick response and action! Love the straw and sustainability actions, small changes can make big differences, good for you for taking that step.

I drive by everyday and have been wanting to try it out. We were looking to have a late breakfast and saw the all day breakfast sign here. The restaurant was clean and smelled great. We just ordered a quick and easy breakfast special 2 eggs ,bacon, home fries and toast for $7. Eggs were cooked perfectly over medium just how I wanted it, bacon was good not to crispy. The home fries were great! They were perfectly seasoned and maybe fried in a garlic butter. I would definitely be back here for breakfast and to try more things on the menu. They had lots of select on the menu, there is definitely something for everyone here.

No lie, this is hands down my favourite fish and chip restaurant. The quality is very important to me since I like fine dining; and I was pleasantly surprised at how perfect the food tasted and looked. Everything was just the right type of golden yellow, very lightly batterd fish so the haddock just flaked when cut. The fries not overdone and the coleslaw is Amazing. You can tell they really care about how the food is made. The breakfast is great as well.

This place is amazing, new and completely renovated from the washrooms to the storefront and every inch in between. The food is excellent, I have tried the halibut, cod, haddock, and the basic breakfast menu and all 4 cheesecakes; everything is delicious and well prepared. The staff are very friendly and provide excellent service. My coworkers, friends and I have each been here many times since it opened and it's always a pleasure and delicious. Today my coworkers and I went there for the Monday special and the Haddock was so good we honestly couldn't stop talking about it the whole meal and for the rest of the day, we've never had haddock so good! The batter is light and flakey but not dripping in grease, the fish are thick and perfectly done every time. The fries are fresh, hot and unsalted which gives you the opportunity to salt them how you like them. The coleslaw is fresh and light without mayo. I recommend giving it a try, you won't be disappointed!

We love fish and chips and we have been spoiled by the abundance and availability of seafood in the West Coast... so already my expectations have been kept low since moving here. But in search of finding decent fish and chips in the Hamilton area, we ordered pick up from Halibut House. I didn't see anyone else dining in at the time, so I assumed most people did the same. The interior was clean, the service was friendly, the food was hot, and the fries were crispy, but the downfall was in the tartar sauce! For a place that only sells fried seafood and chips, you'd think they'd be making vats of homemade tartar sauce to go with it??The packages of tartar sauce that came with our meal did not enhance the quality of the experience - instead, it made me want to write this 3-star review! (and to personally ban any condiment made by Ventura Foods) I am offering to make my own tartar sauce at home, give Halibut House a sample of it, and be a part of making this place better!Just like a good gravy is to fries, a good tartar sauce is critical to making a good fish and chips - right? Now if I decide to order from here again, I know not to ask for the tartar sauce. Please consider my offer above.
