Amazing service and the food is delicious! We had the makunouchi platter, scallop don, and torched salmon pressed sushi. All great. Love the intimate atmosphere to connect. They also have a cute store in the back with lots of goodies

Would return. Recommended.A high quality take on modern Japanese cuisine and mini-mart combo. Key features include the Kingyo Makunouchi Platter and the Marinated Kaisen-Don.Similar to Raisu in Vancouver and it's namesake sister restaurant Kingyo - the must try item here is the Bento/Platter. 12 mouthfuls of their appetizers including Karaage, Shrimp, Pork, Seafood Tartare, Egg Custard.Marinated Kaisen Don is also worth it, with 4 types of fish.Doesn't take AMEX.Expect $40pp.

Came for the Makunouchi platter and it did not disappoint! If you are indecisive and want to try a bite or two of everything, it is the perfect assortment of food. The seafood tartar and sashimi salad are also fantastic! All the fish is fresh and tender.I also enjoyed the yuzu gelato which was light and refreshing. Can’t wait to return and try more dishes.

We got Fisherman’s Kaisen Don, Torched Hotate Negitoro Don, and Torched Saba Pressed Sushi. Kaisen Don came in Sashimi of the day on a bed of Sushi Rice, it was beautifully presented, but we expected the Sashimi to be more special, it had Salmon, Tuna, Hamachi, Surf Clam, Octopus, Spot Prawns, Cooked Shrimp, Tamago, and Tobiko, tbh, given what was provided, we didn’t think it’s worth the price… Torched Hotate Negitoro Don was AMAZING, it had Torched Scallop, Chopped Toro, Ikura and raw Quail Egg on a bed of Sushi Rice, this was AMAZING! Torched Saba Pressed Sushi came in 6 pieces of perfectly seasoned (no Soy Sauce needed) Saba pressed Sushi, it was so BOMB! Overall, we recommend y’all to check this spot out for some authentic Japanese food, all the Sashimi was super fresh, just a bit disappointed with the Kaisen Don but other dishes were delicious!

Was excited to go back to Kingyo since they re-opened. The food was good, and the fish was fresh, but it just wasn’t the same. It’s to par with a lot of other places uptown. The presentation for my Kaisen don was definitely a thumbs up, but I was also having a bit of trouble trying to eat it all while ensuring it didn’t fall onto the tray. As much as I loved the bowl and presentation, the rice and roe was also just getting stuck in between the bottom of the wooden slates. We loved Kingyo before for their uni don. They currently have an uni and ikura don but it was a bit of a sticker shock. If it’s the same one, which I hope it isn’t, then the prices have gone waaaay up. Needless to say, we did not order it.Not the restaurant’s fault but the air conditioner was broken and it was pretty hot and stuffy inside. The servers were troopers in all honesty to be working in such warm conditions. They still provided awesome service with a smile on their face :)

This place is truly hidden gems. The quality of the seafood is top notch. Decent pricing as well. I even tried their braised pork belly, which is very tender melt in your mouth kind of food with amazing well balanced taste. They mane many selections of uni which is amazing. I had Uni sashimi from Boston, very fresh and creamy. Also if you looking for some Japanese ingredients, they have a small retail area which has good selections and the pricing is actually better than other Japanese retail places.

Lively spot with great decor. Pictured is the pork loin cutlet and salmon bowls. Both very nice. Everything we saw come out the kitchen looked great. Will be coming back for sure. Grabbing sushi or another item to go then heading to the nearby park looks like a great option of the place is full.

Excellent service! It can get quite busy but the wait is well worth it. Try and make a reservation if you plan on visiting during the weekend evenings. I ordered the Kaisen Don which came with topped with yummy salmon, sea bream, tuna and scallop and my friend ordered the Salmon Lover. Great portions and quality for the price point. Our meals came with pickle side dishes and an insanely hot but delicious fishy miso soup. Great meal and we’ll be back!
