Friendly, efficient, and fast. The quote, planning, and execution were all better than we could've hoped for.

Chad and his team showed up to move our office in Kelowna. Both ends of the move involved stairs (very tight on the back end of the move) and alot of office desks. They arrived on time, were all professional and courteous and did an excellent job. Every one on the team was responsive to our needs and made sure they accommodated every request. By the second day and the 50th trip up and down the stairs, I never heard one complaint and was always met with a smile. The entire experience with Bekins was positive and I would highly recommend them.Thank you Bekins for making the move as stress free as possible.

The office staff was professional, the quote was detailed, and the movers were phenomenal. They decreased my stress levels and left me feeling confident in their integrity. Only thing that I would change would be an in person inspection of the house rather than a zoom. Chad and his team were the best. Big Horn may be more costly than others, but the peace of mind and the level of professionalism was well worth it.

Hiring Bekins Kelowna was a mistake. If you have any issues with the handling of your goods or the unnecessarily protracted timeline by which they process your claims/concerns, be prepared to feel that you as a customer have little or no value. The Bekins’ employees who packed up our goods mislabeled the box number where our gym components were supposed to be, resulting in the person we hired through Bekins to assemble our gym equipment after our move, not being able to complete that task. It took weeks and weeks to have that matter addressed by Bekins. I had to call numerous times because Bekins failed to respond to our emails and phone calls in a timely manner. Their approach made it clear that responding to us was a very low priority for them. Two of our items were damaged. We filed a claim and we once again had to follow up again and again as our requests for updates were ignored. We finally were contacted by Dawn Miller, General Manager of Kelowna Bekins, whose job it is to assess and settle our claim. She was the most self-serving, irrational, and combative business person and customer care “professional” that I have ever encountered. She outlined that the $231, which everyone is required to pay in case any of the customer’s possessions are damaged, is not an official insurance policy. However, when it comes to the client making a claim, she will set up unrealistic parameters that need to be satisfied in order to receive compensation. Her requirements in our case far exceeded what I have ever had to provide for an actual insurance claim. The irony is pretty clear. She wouldn’t settle on a price for a damaged item unless I could produce a receipt for something I purchased almost 30 years ago. How ridiculous. Does anyone keep receipts for items of no particularly high value they bought decades earlier? For me, as I stated clearly to Dawn, it was not about the money, as it was not a lot in comparison to the total value of our possessions that they moved, but rather about the principle of the matter. My question to her was whether or not she would demonstrate to us that Kelowna Bekins values us as clients. I made it clear that it is in her power to either maintain a good relationship with us or destroy it. She chose a few hundred dollars over us as clients in the future.Dawn was dismissive and unwilling to engage in a productive dialogue. Now, after reading a large number of reviews, it’s clear that Bekins Kelowna reviews are either 4/5 stars or a 1. When they are good, the company offers a cloying and obsequious reply. However, when the review is low, they immediately become defensive and petulant, not able to demonstrate any ability to be self reflective and/or contrite. So, I’m fully anticipating their/Dawn’s response to be exactly the same as I have already read: Bekings good, customer bad. I imagine there will be excuses, obfuscation, and a series of accusations as to how Bekins is right and how I, as customer, am wrong. I’m sure that it is clear to all readers of this review that the motto which businesses of any merit follow, “the customer is always right” (or at least let the customer know that they have the right to feel valued) is not a principle to which Kelowna Bekins adheres.Points of awareness:1. If you don’t pay the exorbitant prices to have Bekins Kelowna both pack and unpack your belongings, they will assert that you can’t claim they damaged your property as they did not handle the items from beginning to end. Can you say “money grab”? Can you say “shady and scam”?2. Be prepared to operate according to their timelines and not yours. It took weeks and weeks to get any action as the clients’ concerns are of no concern to Dawn and her employees.3. Don’t have any expectations of being treated kindly and with respect. You will be disappointed.Bekins Kelowna is a business undeserving of your custom. Save yourself a whole lot of grief and trouble and do not use Bekins Kelowna.I read your response and it's not surprising. There is nothing personal because this is business. I don't know Dawn.

We used Bighorn Moving for our recent move and couldn't be happier with our decision. Communication was fantastic from the start, with a very thorough Zoom walkthrough to provide an accurate and transparent quote. They notified us of their arrival time a couple of days prior to the move, and then showed up exactly on time. This is a family-owned and operated business, and it shows in the service. The whole team took extreme care with all our possessions, and they didn't leave even the slightest marks on any walls. 10/10 I'd hire them again!

From the beginning the experience was excellent..... from the office staff, to the tagging and the awesome men loading the truck. My belongings were handled with care which was so very appreciated. I've seen some budget movers handle furniture with very little care. I knew from the start that I was in excellent hands. Thank you for taking such good care of me. I wouldn't change a thing.

It has been almost a year since we hired them and they have not followed up with any of our concerns and have ignored the ticket we submitted for missing items.I feel that's enough time for them to have resolved at least the ticket.- The packers stole approx. $700 worth of sealed wine, garage items and cleaning supplies. They also stole the wine glass my Mom gave me.- There was no mention of not transporting items at any point of the process, either verbally or contractually.- If they were unable to transport the above stolen items, they should have left them at the location they found them at. They took items that were not theirs for their personal use.- They misplaced an important part of our bed frame, we submitted a ticket but they have refused to resolve it.- Neither Bekins nor their parent company ever knew where our things were between pickup and drop off.- They took payment 2 days before delivery, despite the contract stating 'upon' delivery.- Knives and sharp objects were not secured.- The amount of paper used to pack was unnecessary and excessive.- The experience with the estimator Nicole, and all of our interactions with her were fantastic, she really accommodated all the changes in our situation beforehand.- $5000 was too much to pay for the stress and anger and feelings of violation that we experienced and it cast a shadow on our anniversary weekend.- They will hold you to your end of the contract, aggressively, but will not fulfill their end of it.- They were argumentative and aggressive from the moment we expressed concerns and did not try to work with us to resolve any problems. In the past we have hired literal Meth Heads in Montreal to move our things and they did a better job and didn't steal anything. Will we use them again? Absolutely Never. If you choose to hire them, heed this warning, sign NOTHING until every single one of your boxes has been opened and checked, even if that means putting the movers up for the night. They will try to shirk all responsibility, and they won't be nice about it. They prey on honest and trusting people and hide behind a wall of bureaucracy.I will even go so far as to predict the response from the owner will be aggressive and dismissive.Edit; Shortly after posting this, Dawn from Bekins called to threaten my husband into changing this review. Nice try Dawn, but I think the rest of these reviews speak to your character, enough that I don't need to make any changes. Disgusting.

Never in a Million Years! When is a “quote” not a “quote”?I contacted Bekins Kelowna to arrange packing and shipment of my 1 bdrm appt possessions overseas. I had my belongings in a self storage unit with Kelowna Self Storage (can I say what a fabulous business they are, honest, friendly and super efficient). I am currently a full time student until starting employment in July and am on a strictly limited budget. I advised Bekins of this and they agreed when advised that I wouldn’t be in a position to pay the $10,000 overseas shipping fee for several months. Given COVID related delays, it would be some time before shipment could be arranged.Bekins contacted me in March and advised they could have my goods transferred to their warehouse in April, getting it packed ready for overseas shipping and storing it until I was ready to have it shipped. They quoted $1900 for packing and moving to their facility and provided a monthly storage “quote” that was close to what I was already paying. I agreed and paid a $500 non refundable deposit. When the storage fees came in for “bulk storage “at double the quote and double what I was paying at Kelowna Self Storage for a self contained unit, I questioned this. I received an email in a berating tone suggesting I should expect this figure “given the weight of my goods”.Who could estimate the weight of their household goods? Only someone in the moving and storage industry, and Bekins failed to do this when they provided me with the storage “quote” which was actually their minimum charge, not what it would likely cost me.With this monthly figure, I was unable to make any contribution to my outstanding account with them, this was distressing, not a comfortable situation to be in. I contacted them and as they were not negotiable on the monthly storage fee, I asked for a quote to have my goods moved back to self storage until I was able to finalise overseas shipping. They quoted $900 to have my fully packed and securely wrapped (I am assuming) goods moved 5kms from their facility to Kelowna Self Storage. I am not in a position to pay this fee until I start work in July, so agreed to pay their bulk storage monthly fee until the end of July, when I intended moving my goods back to more reasonable self storage and make payments against my outstanding account with Bekins for packing and shipping my goods overseas.I then got a demand from Bekins Kelowna to pay my entire outstanding account within 3 weeks or my goods would be publicly auctioned under the Warehouseman’s Act. They had added an additional $400 charge for “warehouse handling” – without any explanation – I can only assume there is an extra charge for their staff to move your goods off the truck and into the warehouse. They billed me for the next months bulk storage in advance, while advising my goods would be auctioned in the middle of the month.I contacted the Better Business Bureau, and their only service to me was to forward aggressively worded emails from the Bekins Kelowna General Manager, Dawn. I regret not taking the time to read the previous BBB negative reviews, specifically mentioning this person who I had the misfortune to be dealing with.I contacted Bekins Canada and they quickly distanced themselves, claiming no responsibility for the actions of their franchisees, and went so far as to request I remove my complaint from their website.I contacted Consumer Affairs but their jurisdiction does not cover the moving and storage industry. So I am sadder, much wiser, and much lighter in worldly goods, including many precious and to me, priceless possessions collected over the past 30+ years. I never in a million years imagined losing everything I own to a business so lacking in brains, heart and backbone. So would I recommend Bekins for your moving and storage needs? Never in a million years!
