Went for my birthday with a friend. Great service and fantastic food! We did, however, find it too cold in the restaurant to totally enjoy the experience

We've been here 4-5 times over the years. The service is always fantastic, and we've never had a bad meal. It's usually our first choice for date night. I try to have something different each time, but my fiancee always orders the chicken parm. It's his favourite meal and he says that it's the best in the area. It's a small restaurant that is always busy, so make sure to book a reservation!

As someone who’s grown up having authentic italian dishes for the last 26 years, I am always hesitant to visit italian restaurants because it “just won’t compare,” but my god, this place blew my mind.The staff was immediately welcoming and warm, hanging our coats, bringing us water and menus immediately. We did make a reservation (for2) as it was recommended on the site, and the small but cozy family restaurant filled up fast on a Tuesday evening.Had a glass of the house red wine, which was elegant as hell but there was also a generous selection of italian classics to choose from. The menu was overwhelming only because every dish I read made a little more drool drip out the corner of my mouth unnoticed. We went with the Caesar Salad and Garlic Parmesan Loaf to start (I shed a tear when it came) and the Fettuccini Alfredo and New York Strip w/ veggies for our mains. Wow. I don’t even remember chewing anything. The steak was tender and cooked to perfection; the veggies were fresh and seasoned elegantly, while the pasta was clearly handmade fettuccini and melted in your mouth like butter. The pancetta on top tasted like Christmas morning. The loaf and salad were basic dishes but carried so much flavour I was barely able to hold a conversation while I viciously shovelled all this incredible food in my mouth in a matter of minutes.Overall, I would like to extend my warmest regards to this family who have created the true essence of what it means to eat an Italian meal- feeling welcome, warm and most of all happily waddling to your car afterwards, with a box of pistachio ricotta cannolis, already planning your next trip back.

What a great find in a very nice town. The Fat Olive offers a wide range of Italian cuisine. I enjoyed a small Caesar salad, outstanding. The dressing needs to be bottled and sold to the public.Also enjoyed the Basil Pesto Bow tie pasta. A fantastic dish, pasta cooked perfectly, bright pesto. Very, very good. Other dishes enjoyed with friends were spaghetti and fat meatball, perch burger with fries and perch dinner. Everyone enjoyed their choices.If you are in Dorchester, drop by the Fat Olive.

Not my favourite but crowded none the less. I was going to do a detailed review but I feel like it would be too negative. For some reason I just keep thinking 'If you have nothing nice to say...' They seem like a decent group of people doing their best. For $50 per person I just expect more. One positive: Truly having a hard time thinking of one. Worst negative (for me anyway) - when they cooked fish for other customers the smell was completely overwhelming to the point I nearly had to leave.
