Muckleston & Brockwell - A Fine Butchery

Excellent, friendly service. All the various meats I have tried have been excellent. They make great sausages - especially the lamb. I’m hooked on their jerky. Besides all that they have a small selection of things like rubs and often have a few choices of potatoes, carrots etc. So you don’t have to schlep over to another market to get the rest of your meal. Can I give 6 stars?

I am absolutely thrilled that I found M&B. I've been going here for months now and it's my favourite butcher shop in Ottawa.Phenomenal product, excellent service, and if they don't have the cut you want in the case, they'll cut it fresh for you in the back.The dry age flavour of this location is quite delicious, and everything I've had here has been amazing.Try out their beef, obviously because it's amazing, but try out the cold-smoked chicken! Quite salty but very good! And the beef jerky. Oh my god the beef jerky!!!!!❤️

Top-tier butchers, products, and service. I made Cassoulet today with a few items from their shop. The dish was elevated by the Toulouse sausage, beef bone broth, and Lardon that I purchased here. I had been searching for Toulouse sausage, and when I called them, they didn't have any at that moment, but offered to make some up for me to pick up in 30 minutes (!). The shop itself is handsome, neat, and clean. They also have a variety of items that would make for a great gift for a home chef.

I love this establishment. They're extremely professional as you would demand, but they're as friendly as a small business I have ever experienced. They know the product well, and they have all the little accompaniments to help you get the most from their meats.I always visit them when I want to prepare my father a celebratory meal.

Muckleston’s chicken breast opened my eyes to what meat could truly taste like… even high-end grocer’s organic meat pales in comparison.As a vegetarian returning to meat due to medical reasons, the team at Muckleston’s made the transition pleasurable: they cut up the meat to my preference (strips, diced, etc.) and individually sealed into serving sizes of my request with a pre-cut opening slit so I don’t even need to get my scissors bloody.They take the time to educate (different texture depending on the method of cooking), advise (different cut for different prices) and deliver regardless of the size of your order. They also custom marinate in a myriad of delicious flavours with meat of your choosing thanks to a former chef being a member of the team. The store also has a gourmet food shop/café vibe instead of the fluorescent lighting of other houses of bloody terror.Going the butcher can actually be more economical than the grocery store while minimizing your ecological impact and improving your understanding of the food you put into your body (I now even know the casing the sausages are packed in!).
