Union Market Square
Stopped by after a very windy hike on Starky Hill because i was in the mood for some apple fritters. The shop is pretty with friendly staff. Apple fritters were good. Unfortunately i can’t say the same for the frozen pie i picked up for dinner that night. At almost $9 for a small personal size pie i was expecting something more substantial … not just lots of dough. I’ve passed by the place many times and always wonder what kind of foods they have. Now. At least i know!

Cute little place with one of the best tasting burgers I’ve ever had! We were in the area and googled restaurants near us and liked the pics, so we went! We were not disappointed at all!! Fresh salad and delicious food! And the best hot apple fritters!

Accidentally went in before they were opened. But still took care of my order. It was simple but they did it. Chain companies would never have let me in to start. Very pleasant to deal with and my first time there. A definite go back and get a lunch there. So happy to have establishments like this over chain's. The menu look great, just don't know what to order when I go back. Definitely bringing my wife as she likes these as well.

The interior is lovley, with a rustic authentic feel. Food is fresh and local. Simple and rustic, soups, sandwiches, wraps, salads. This is a great location to meet up with friends to chat and share a meal. Will go back.

Our favourite little local shop. Super cute store, great offering of products by local artisans, AMAZING apple fritters on the weekend, ice cream, takeout food, coffee... and overall an awesome and eclectic offering of goods. Really a one-stop-shop for food, gifts, conveniences. You can also stop in and to sit on their patio and enjoy their personable, friendly service for a bit longer!

I have always wanted to stop in as I have passed by for one of the many tempting offerings on the sandwich board outside. Today was the day. Smoked Bacon Mac and Cheese. Dropped in at lunch time. Ordered one for myself and a workmate. Was a bit startled it totalled $38.00 but it is Covid times, it is a well thought of crafty bistro, and I must admit, I have always loved this Arkell establishment. When I returned to work with surprise lunch, my workmate and I opened it up....... I have provided pictures.These portions are not worth 17 dollars each. I don't care if it was made with six kinds of ancient artisanal aged cheddars and the smokiest bacon of the Himalayas. It was a small child's portion, it was overcooked...or under cooked, tough to tell, it wasn't very good, bacon seemed to be merely a spice, and I thought it was a joke to be honest. Union Market may be an Arkell institution for affluent Guelph South-enders and day trippers but today a fool and his money were parted. Sorry Union Market. It was a disappointing experience. **** Update. March 16th 2022: I want to acknowledge that Union reached out to me as you can see. My experience I had is not the norm and they wanted to make it right. I think that was genuinely a great gesture and really what I think is the sign of a great business. I have amended my rating and I wish them the best.

We bought some good quality free run organic eggs. Staff were friendly and helpful. Good vibes here and great atmosphere. Feels fresh, welcoming, natural, and detail oriented. Parking is free and available in the back and on the street. No gluten free / dairy free baked goods as of this review yet.

We love The Union! It’s just around the corner and never disappoints. Chef Stephen keeps it local and fresh. We love the simple menu and the Union burger is unbelievable! Keep it up Union, we love it!

Charming and authentic grocery and restaurant. Have had lunch twice and really enjoyed both meals. The pepperettes and carrot loaf are a welcome take home snack from the grocery and the burger for lunch was so flavourful. Everything on the menu is cooked fresh to order, so tasty! Union Market Square is the perfect spot for a relaxed, locally sourced lunch.

Lovely middle of no where just east of hwy 6 in Arkell. A little pricey and no extras with your main dish but delicious and they serve ice cream if you're out for a drive.
