I'm not sure what's going on with this place. From all accounts it's one of the leading private elevator business locally that isn't garaventa but my experience so far has been LOUSY.1) I've got a residential wheelchair lift that was installed years ago by a company that is now out of business. Suddenly after 20 years the lift just stopped working abruptly. I speak to one of the receptionists who explains that they may not be able to help me out (same response as the other similar business' ) because they only service lifts/elevators they've installed. Totally fair of them, and the receptionist helpfully tells me to forward some pictures to the service group JUST IN CASE they might be able to help me. (great!)I ask if by chance I could just book a repair guy (knowing they deal with hydraulic lift installations) and see if they might not be able to figure out my issue while being there in person - but she explains any assessment is $250 PERIOD - fix or no fix. Since It's Friday I ask if she could possibly suggest anyone else that might be able to repair/assess and fix my lift while I wait and she explains that she won't pass on any names until Western Elevator declines me first. IF they can't fix it, then they'll help me find someone. (SO not particularly sympathetic to my problem and needs at all. Strangely this isn't the same mandate as their competition who freely suggested other companies that I also had no luck with ultimately but had a better experience with)2) Ok, so I send an email with pictures to the service contact. It's a Friday morning so I figure I won't get word until likely Monday. After getting zero response I quickly followup via phone call JUST IN CASE. I get through immediately and confirm that they didn't receive my email. OK, I just forward the same email and they get it right away. Service person tells me they'll forward this onto the repair guys, get the skinny and get back to me.3) A day later with no answer, I call again. Service rep is surprised she hasn't heard back from the repair people either (things get busy understandably) so she forwards my email again with the pictures and says she'll follow up by phone to make sure they get an answer to me.4) Later on the same day in the afternoon (after getting no information) I call back and she sadly explains that the repair guys can't help me out. I follow up though asking to get someone from there to touch base on replacing my motor outright (reasoning - hydraulic to hydraulic motor) and just modernizing my set up. I also ask for the worst case scenario and am given a very loose rough estimate of a full installation at $20K so I'm really reluctant to bite that bullet. At this point, I've been stuck in the basement of my house for almost a week and have given up on finding anyone in the city that is willing to help me out. She says she'll send it to the sales team and get them to contact me asap.5) One day after that, no emails, no phone call. I once again call western elevator. I'm a bit agitated at this point and ask if the sales team have gotten my information and when they plan on getting back to me. She seems shocked since the sales team have been around all day and haven't been busy at all. She then tells me they have a meeting soon but they'll call me right after they're done. The sales team are the business owners, so they'll certainly get back to me soon.6) One day later and It's Friday now, just past noon. No one's called the two numbers I've left with them, or email me. I've spoken to apparently 3 different people that work there and some how am not any further then I was 1 week ago with this place. I'm literally asking for me to give them my money so I can access my home again - they DON'T CARE.Luckily though I found someone that does. Google Reliant Repair Services. No inflated charges, Nice guy, gets back to you asap. It wasn't the motor. it was just a problem safety lock on a door. I can't be more disappointed with my experience here.I hope they take this constructively and do better for the next person.

A client asked me to look into getting a lift as part of their renovation we were doing. Never having put in an elevator before, I looked for “elevators” online and Western came up. A little background research and it was clear to me that I could comfortably invite them to tender for my client. Alan showed up, viewed the space and knew exactly which model would work. I was given a price right then and there and it was approved by the client within the week. Alan returned to the site to tell me exactly what he needed for the preparation, and even included drawings. We went to work to build the deck to his plan specs and he returned again to inspect it. We passed ;-). A short time later, the elevator arrived and was installed in one trip. Done. Working. Needless to say, my client is extremely happy to have the freedom of mobility, and grocery bag carrying ;-)If you’re looking for a lift, start with Alan and Western Elevator. You won’t need to go anywhere else.
