Worst hospitalization I’ve ever received the nurses were rude and I wasn’t taken care of at all they were late on my medication and painkillers when i had to beg for it for hours while i was in pain and they kept saying the nurse is coming but never comes.Students are loud and argue in the hallway right after they open my door.DO NOT COME HERE UNLESS LAST RESORT because you will not be treated the way you should and wait while your pain gets worse with nothing to help you.

I received fantastic care at CHUM when I recently went in for an emergency angioplasty. My procedure went well and was successful. From the doctors and residents to the nurses and orderlies, everyone was attentive and friendly. The hospital was clean, and the facilities are modern and new. I felt I was in very good hands. The only small caveat I'd add (and I mention this only so people staying overnight can be prepared) is that the meals they served were surprisingly lacking in nutrition (toast and margarine with a Kraft Singles cheese slice as well as Rice Crispies with 2% milk for breakfast, chicken with warmed up frozen vegetables and white rice and a dry date square for dinner). I realize it's not a restaurant but it is an institution designed to make people healthy, and food is essentially medicine. Anyway, this doesn't take away from the excellent care I received and the gratitude I feel towards the staff, it's just something to be aware of if you're staying overnight as you might want to bring something to eat in your bag from home or have your family/friends pick something up for you.

Worst hospital. Two doctors available only on emergency lack of respect over 13 hours waiting in emergency, what’s the purpose of hospital ! Might as well close it , where does all the taxes goes , big hospitals with no staff , super dirty central fan very dirty, not a hospital they want you to suffer and give you more meds

I went to Emergency room yesterday. I'm having severe abdominal pain. I reached to ER at 10pm seeing my condition nurse gave me painkillers and that's it.. for next 5 hours I waited for doctor to see me and nothing. What kind of emergency is this. I came back home without seeing any doctor and had another painkiller.. this is the worst medical system I'm witnessing here in Canada.

I'm pretty sure if you were on the floor dying they still consider you a non priority and tell you the wait times are all determined on the type of emergency. waited 12 hours there with really high blood pressure. no doctor saw me. the nurse was bitter, rude and unempathetic. made a complaint against them. the waiting room is filthy. The security are nice, but I'm not there to socialize with them.

I'd caution against using this Emergency Room. On Saturday, 4/29/2023, I reported to this ED around noon for food poisoning. I did not get back to my hotel until 9:30pm. Now I've been a hospital receptionist, a clinic receptionist, a medical assistant, a patient educator on a triage/care advice line, a hospitalist group manager, and now I'm a project manager for a medical association. I'm also a health education specialist and have a master of health administration degree. I did not tell any of the staff I have about 10 years of clinical and administrative healthcare experience. I'm from the states, but I still have an understanding of standards of care. Oddly, it's as if this ER operates without laws, policies, or quality standards. I am still shocked by this experience. For severe dehydration, you need IV fluids as soon as possible. For CHUM that's going to be about 5 hours until they can get to you. That would have been fine, except French is my second language. I don't speak it well, but USUALLY I understand it. Regrettably, I was delirious with dehydration, and my sister doesn't understand French at all. We heard my name on the intercom, but did not quite catch where they directed me to go. We went to the desk H, (where there is a woman around 40-50 years old of east Asian descent) and ask where were suppose to go. We explained we heard my name, but didn't hear which room. She checks" her computer

I went to the emergency today and spent 5 hours there, which was not really that long compared to my previous experiences. I felt really taken care of despite the fact that I didn’t really speak French. All the nurses and doctors who took care of me happened to be women and that was really reassuring. I had a neck injury and got my initial examinations, dinner (!), pain medication, X ray done in those 5 hours. I told my nurse I didn’t have dinner so I was worried about taking meds with empty stomach and she immediately sent some food to me. Honestly, I have accompanied my friends to the ER in the US and here it just feels so much better! Obviously I didn’t expect the process to be short anyway - patience is necessary for the ER!

This review is only for the facility itself. Another beautiful and spectacular healthcare facility in city of Montreal: the Centre hospitalier de l'Université de Montréal (CHUM, translated as University of Montreal Health Centre) is one of two major healthcare networks in the city of Montreal, Quebec. Also, CHUM is one of the largest hospitals in Canada too. It is a teaching institution affiliated with the French-language Université de Montréal and a public not-for-profit corporation with 1,259 beds and over 7,000 employees including physicians, nurses, managers, technicians, and researchers and educators. Each year more than 500,000 patients are admitted for care at the CHUM. The CHUM's primary mission is to provide inpatient and ambulatory care to its immediate urban clientele and specialized and ultraspecialized services to the broader metropolitan and provincial population. Thank you for the outstanding service to the people you love!

I have been to this hospital two times, once for day surgery and more recently went to emergency following an accident which required major surgery and a 6 day stay. As far as my hospital experiences have been, both times here were by far the best experiences I have had in terms of the facilities, the staff, the doctors and the procedures. In both cases, pre and post-operation, I was kept fully informed of the status of my condition, my options, and what to do in case of complications after I left the hospital. The hospital is relatively new so everything is state-of-the-art, the rooms are all private and all the staff from orderlies to surgeons appear to appreciate their work and truly care for the patients. I left the hospital both times feeling cured and very positive.

If you can even see a doctor in the ER under 10 hours, you are extremely lucky. 15-20+ hours waiting time is average. If you in serious condition, you better drive to New York, US or take a flight to Germany. You will pay 100% medical fee, but at least you will live an another day.
