We took my nephews for the children's experience and it was amazing. Valaurie was very kind and she encouraged the boys to be more comfortable around the horses. Even though they were nervous at first, they both ended up riding and had a great time. I was so impressed with the experience that I came back the next day and did a trail ride. We did the 1 hr ride and that was amazing as well. Valaurie and Daniela took us out on very short notice, shared a bunch of knowledge of the area, and I wish I had booked for a longer ride because it was so much fun. We are planning on returning to the ranch and would highly recommend it.

My Mom and I came up for a mother/daughter weekend away and this place well exceeded our expectations! The whole Wettstone family treated us like we were apart of their own family. The Ranch was beautiful and the horses that roam the property make the experience! I did a couple of horse riding lessons from Valerie and her passion and knowledge was extremely impressive. We will be back! :)

Wettstone ranch is absolutely beautiful and I cannot recommend their kids riding experience enough! Our 7 year old absolutely fell in love with horses and riding thanks to Valaurie and Aura! Valaurie’s love for the horses and her sweet, calm personality is the perfect recipe for helping kids relax and truly love their riding experience!

Friendly hosts, horses, dogs, chickens, goats, playground, kayaks, canoes, pristine lake, stars, and lovely cabins. OMG, loved it. Kayak at the break of dawn, hug a horse, horseback riding on beautiful trails, dogs to pet, and lots of places to just sit and take it all in. Well kept and has lots of room to roam.Bring drinking water as the local water has a smell and can't be helped, but won't kill you.

We absolutely LOVE the trappers cabin! It’s a perfect rustic spot for two. Dinner by candlelight and a warm fire in the winter are some of our favourite things. There is nothing like waking up to a beautiful snow covered lake and a heard of horse! We have stayed many times before and will stay many times to come, winter is definitely our favourite time to stay!

We came to the ranch thinking it will be a beautiful experience but when we were there we just wanted to leave! The room we had was the worst one (even if we had paid the same price) It includes barely a window, we had to cross the corridor to go to the bathroom, in which water stinks!!! The welcoming was not very friendly and smiling, the owners do not seem invested to host people, they pressured us when we arrive if we want to eat at their barbecue (participation fees) then explain there is no kitchen (not mentioned when we booked), it was raining and no place to stay outside because the only sheltered place outside was reserved to the owner and we could not access. No visit of the farm

We were charged $10 extra to bring our small dog to the ranch. Thinking it would be a pet-friendly environment we brought him along.Upon arrival we were told that our small dog had to be on a leash at all times while their dogs were able to roam around freely. Additionally, we had also mentioned that we would be interested in going on the horse trail rides thinking our dog would be ok to leave in the cabin for 2 hours. Nope. We were advised that he would have to be in a kennel for the duration as they don't allow dogs to be unsupervised. No problem. They said that they were supposed to get back to us that night if the kennel would be available but never did. We waited until the next morning and heard nothing back so we called them to cancel the trail rides for the next day since we needed to plan alternative activities as our dog had to be with us at all times. The person we spoke to when cancelling did not mention any 48hr cancellation policy nor did he state that we would still be charged even though we did not go. We only found out about the extra charge when my wife noticed that the bill was higher than expected. When she asked them about the charges, we then found out that we were still charged for the trail rides regardless of actually going. Not cool. After several minutes of back and forth they finally decided to refund us back only 1 of the trail ride charge that we didn't go on. How do you not get back to your customers and then decide to secretly charge for services that they didn't even take? Had we not asked, they would not have disclosed it.All in all it was a bad experience because they did not communicate things clearly and did not get back to us in a timely manner. We had no option but to change the plan accordingly. Had we known ahead of time we would not have brought our dog along and paid extra for him. Here are a list of other things to note:- only had access to firewood from a specific pile (the family had special wood from a different pile that we could not use)- horse poop was everywhere as they were able to roam around freely (at times they were blocking the gate entrance and we had to deal with it)- we paid for a kitchen that included a small fridge (with a tiny freezer section), a small range and a sink.- the cabin only provided dish soap, bath towels, toilet paper and little soap bars (no shampoo)- water had a smell- no internet (the family had internet in the main cabin which we could use only if we were close enough, but speed was limited because we were far away from the router)- poor communication of stringent rules/policies- we had to dispose of the linen in a separate bag before leavingWe will not come back here again and do not recommend this place to our friends and family. I really hope they will correct their customer service and treat their clients properly in the future.

Just spent the long weekend at Wettstone Guest Ranch just outside Lone Butte, a 5.5 hour drive from the Lower Mainland. We stayed at the Trapper's Cabin; which was a quaint rustic 1 room log cabin with no electricity or plumbing! Just an outhouse. Glamping at its finest! We brought our camping supplies (besides the tent and the bedding) and were completely set up! Our 2 Costco Solar light strings were the perfect amount of light for inside and outside the cabin at night. We were greeted and introduced to the animals by Valaurie who told us the horses and dogs roam the property freely! We went for a 2 hour horseback trip, just the 2 of us along with our guide Daniella, who was very calm and professional when we came across a brown bear! Brought paddleboards for the swimmable lake; which was just outside our doorstep. Jason filled our firewood box daily for our firepit and made sure we were set up with everything we needed, including breakfast, which they offer daily! On top of all of this, the place was ridiculously reasonable! They also have lakefront RV sites (no hookups or washroom facilities) I was shocked that they were empty on a long weekend! As well as other accommodations for larger parties. A+++

A stay at a guest ranch had been on my bucket list for a very long time and I couldn’t have picked a better place than Wettstone Guest Ranch.Valaurie is one of only two Monty Roberts - trained Horse Professionals in Canada. If you want to learn about natural horsemanship, Wettstone Guest Ranch is your place to go. Valaurie is an amazing teacher, clear in her instructions, patient with her students, eager to share her knowledge and just wonderful with the horses. Horses and students couldn’t be in better hands. The horses are clearly a priority on this ranch, some of them even roam freely on the property and came to visit us at the Chalet with their foals, just wonderful! The Chalet, the “Beaver part” of it, provided everything we needed. Located right next to the lake and the adjacent crown land, the view through the windows and from the patio (and dock) was amazing. We had a quick peak at the rustic cabin as well, and it looked perfect for one or two people, very cozy! The RV spots were also beautifully located by the lake. The downstairs common/breakfast room is a great place to spend a rainy day with books, TV, DVDs and games. Having access to an EV charger was very convenient for us.Do yourselves a favour and stay for at least 3 nights (or more!). We stayed a week and between the Join-Up (a la Monty Roberts), horseback riding lessons, trail rides, swimming in the lake, canoeing and kayaking, we didn’t even make it to the biking, hiking, and exploring the area. The ranch is also the perfect place to enjoy a good book, sit by the lake, watch the horses, listen to the Loons (a special treat!), play with the dogs and cats, relax and just “be”.The Wettstein Family were so wonderful and welcoming, we felt right at home. We recommend the weekly BBQ on Thursdays, a wonderful way to connect with the family (and other guests) and learn more about horses, living in the Cariboo (or Switzerland for that matter) and simply have a great time together over great food. Man spricht Deutsch (and Schwizerduetsch, and French).Thank you, Diana, Martin, Valaurie and Daniela for an amazing time! We sure hope to be back!Silke, Victoria BCPetra, Germany
