Kingston French Montessori School - Une École Pour Tous

We've had a great experience with our child here with both the previous and current administrator. My impression is that some of the families that left expected things to be exactly the same, which seems like an unreasonable expectation with a completely new owner who is starting to run the school.Our child loves coming to school, learns a ton, and the teachers are dedicated, hardworking, and lovely. We will be enrolling our second child as well.

Ownership change, old reviews not reflective of current state. Do your research on the ministry site. Fees are subject to increase at the discretion of the director (we had a 20%+ increase 3 months into our contract). We were dismissed from the school with two weeks notice without the opportunity to meet prior to the notice being issued. While the teachers do their best, you will constantly be at the whims of the director and therefore a very unstable place. Hope she takes the feedback and returns this school to its former calibre.

New owners. The sterling reputation of this place is sadly a thing of the past. We were so disappointed with our experience at this daycare. The toddler classroom teachers were loving and caring- however the administrator of the school has no experience running a child care center and it shows. We were subject to her whims, constantly changing policy and handbook, fees were raised mid contract and communications were poor and fumbled. We do not recommend sending your child to this facility based on our personal experience. Many of the original families have since left and found other options as the situation became untenable. Please check Ministry of Education complaints and subsequent investigations website- there are multiple deficiencies noted about this “school”. We hope improvements will be made to the administration of what was once a great daycare.

Prepare your preschooler at one of the best!

We are non-French speaking first time parents. Our child there from 18M - 3 years. Our child is now confident, self-caring, compassionate, sociable and comprehends conversational French.We used the school syllabus to guide what we do at home. We were also given parental guidance from the staff.This place is worth every penny! Would have stayed longer if we could.

We have been pleased with our overall experience with LMMK. we arrived during a transition phase. Rates had gone up to cover the crazy inflation (food especially) and there was certainly some transitions taking place with revamping handbooks and website. Due to the amount of stuff happening, there were some logistics missed during our first few days. Pick-up and drop-off procedures for early drop-off was a bit scattered (minus 1 star in this review), but everyone was very kind and helped sort it out.Location may be on a busy intersection but you don't notice this once in the play-yard. The outdoor space has been in constant improvement since we arrived (wood chips, garden, etc). They are definitely putting in the effort to make the school better. Inside is very organized and layout makes good use of the space.The staff have been very friendly and made our daughter's transition to a new city better than expected. Assisting with toilet training, introducing a new language, and supporting her with a variety of new experiences. She has done very well and looks forward to being there everyday. She constantly sings French songs at home and attempts to read French books and is even more curious about the language every day. Also, the food seems to be yummy and menu always looks healthy and tasty. Chef Elsa is great!!The transition from a regular public daycare to montessori has a few drawbacks, namely schedule. the extra days off, requiring home childcare, and shorter hours can be a struggle depending on your work situation. 8am to 5pm matches well for us but may be hard for others. But with the extremely limited spots in registered centres in Kingston, we took what we could get in and haven't regretted the decision at all.
