Was trying to find a book by a local author that's no longer being printed.Elaine took my information and after a long while she contacted me to let me know she had the book I was looking for.This level of personal service is nearly impossible to find these days.Five stars.

You rock!!! What a gem and Elaine went above and beyond searching for books on my list. I listened to her recommendation on Norman Mailers the executioners song...and I cant put it down. Good things it's 1100 pages. Next door the coffee shop is great as well;)

I was looking for a book of First Nations stories to send out to a friend who's having her first child in England... just a reminder of Mom's West Coast roots. After hours and hours of searching I finally found Elaine's Books online, and the exact title I was looking for.It was a bit of a challenge navigating the time difference between Vancouver and St. John's, but Elaine was very prompt at returning my call and the purchase and shipping were completely painless!Just received my book today and I'm over the moon! Elaine’s Books is wonderful! It is not only St. John's only used bookstore, but it also sells high-quality used-books from a large selection - both in person or online! When I did go to the store - the service was super friendly!

Elaine's has all sorts of goodies tucked away in it. All the artwork on the walls is for sale too. My favourite part of the store is the children's book section - you can find old copies of Nancy Drew and Enid Blyton books which brings back a lot of nostalgia! If you're looking for a good browse and to find something unexpected to read then I highly reccomend it!
