Love the quarry. Far enough of a walk so it isn’t crowded by the masses. Bring something to float on and some cold ones.

Great walk known as the quarry. Very dog friendly. Private ownership, but they allow walkers. Enjoy this gem before the area gets developed.

Parked off of the main road, walked 3 mins and arrived at the top of the lakeNice view and I'm sure ok to swim in given hot summer days. Cool place to visit

Amazing swimming. Long hike in through gates. Can be cold until July/August. Currently not protected. Regional District needs to buy and preserve it as park. Awesome place to walk dogs. Edges of lake are steep. There’s only one small end in the shade where you can gradually walk in to swim. All other access is jumping in. It is an old quarry after all.

Gets busy in the afternoon during the summer, especially on weekends. Nice place to hike, great swimming too.

Amazing lake. The water is a gorgeous blue colour, the lake is bigger than I expected, the walk down from the road was pleasant, and the crayfish were an unexpected discovery. Awesome way to spend a day with kids or friends.

Poorly marked for no trespassing. Was listed as a must see on several travel sites. We were chased off by a crazy man with a megaphone on an ATV cussing at us and yelling to leave.

In my opinion, this is one of the greatest hidden gems on Vancouver Island. I discovered it for the first time in 2015, and since then it has become an essential part of every summer. The water gets super warm in July and August in particular, but it is warm from May to September on any sunny, hot day. You can bring tubes and lounge on the lake, and it is a blast. There are always lots of people around the lake, but people tend to be friendly and mind their own business. A word of caution: crayfish tend to line the inside of the lake just below the edge, so try to jump away from the edge into the water when you go swimming, and be careful getting out. They can be big, but I'm pretty sure they're harmless. Overall, I highly recommend checking out this lake!
