A very nice evening with my sister, the food was really delicious, I take the duck leg confit. The only thing that really bothered us was the butler who was constantly touching me like a friend does and the service was really not the author...

Old fashion tasted like water, not even half full. Asked for an other, tasted the same. You can find way better drinks anywhere else.

I went here with my mother and aunt for a bite to eat. I wish I had something positive to say about the place; however, I don't. The only positive is the location and the service. The food is substandard for the tourist area in which it is located. If it weren't for tourists this place would be struggling to stay afloat. My mother and aunt ordered the seafood plater, and I the Wagyu burger. The lettuce of the salad was wilted, a little slimy and some of the edges were brown. It was as if they had mixed old with new lettuce. This was only visible after removing the top layer of the salad. As someone with previous experience working in the food industry, this is a common practice performed by food establishments who put profit before quality. Luckily, for Le Repaire, I was not a health inspector! The wagyu burger was excellent; however, the patty of the burger was not intact. A large enough piece of the patty had broken off during cooking. So not much attention was paid towards presentation. I expect a wagyu patty to be intact. This is not McDonalds. The fries in all of our plates were not fully cooked, raw on the inside, and were not eatable. I only ate the burger. Total cost with tip, $40.The seafood platers were horrible. The shrimp and scallops tasted rancid, as if the grill they were cooked on had not been properly cleaned. Or it could have also been the cleaner used on the grills that was not rinsed off properly after cleaning. The mussels were cooked in a curry sauce, which my mother found to taste terrible. When ordering, she was not told there were different options of sauces. She nor my aunt were able to eat their platers. My aunt ate less than 10% of her plater. Both paid over $60 with tip for meals they didn't eat. The utensils I had were also not clean enough to pass a health inspection. There were pieces of dried food baked onto my knife. But I can let that slide because it does happened in odd circumstances due to dishwashers. The waiter was a good guy but he tried to gaslight us about the quality of the food, as if we didn't know what we were talking about. My mother worked as a chef for over 20 years! My mother and aunt both grew up on the Basse-Côte-Nord. They know their seafood!!! He also thought we were from somewhere outside of Quebec. He tried telling us that in Quebec people like their fries cooked that way. When we informed him we were from Sherbrooke he changed his story. He said that he would inform the cook about it. We never contested against paying for our meals. We politely requested the bill, paid it with tip, and walked away.I think this place has a low review on Google because maybe they're too stubborn to admit that they have some issues they need to work on in order to improve themselves. I would advise paying more and hire an experienced chef who will be strict with their staff. It takes more than presentation on a plate for food to be good quality." You have the location

We had the pulled pork poutine, a hamburger, and French onion soup with a Caeser salad. It was all delicious. Not fast food, but we enjoyed our wait time with people watching.

Sit at the patio here on a nice day! The view is amazing. I only had drinks here so I'm not sure how the food but the drinks are pretty pricey but it is worth it for the view you are getting.

This place has a good ambiance. Food was not bad though we had to wait a long time to get it but that’s okay. The problem we had was when we asked for Check. The server came to our table with the bill and told us “i don’t know if you guys are aware, I would like to tell you something about Quebec, here we don’t add service charge to the bill so pay that separate” we were like “what? That’s everywhere”. It felt a little biased (even racist) the way she reminded us to pay tip 4 times after that in the time we were looking at the cost and taking out the card (we were anyway going to pay, and always pay everywhere else too). After that she took my card and used her pay machine to charge for the food and added the tip on her own without returning it back to me so I can choose the tip I prefer to give (not ok).I have never seen this kind of behavior anywhere else. It felt humiliating and insulting to us. I saw they didn’t do that with other table around us. I did not like the demeaning way they dealt with us at the end. I would recommend to the owner/manager to train your staff properly as this is not the type of service one expects when they come to good restaurant with their family to enjoy. Really spoilt our nice evening.I wouldn’t go back here ever and wouldn’t recommend this place to anyone who wants not to be judged and get the service in a demeaning way.

Long story short don't bother wasting your money here. Service was the worst and in addition the food did not taste great either. My steak was room temperature when it was delivered to my table. The manager (with an attitude) took it back to kitchen, put it in oven then re-delivered. This time it was warm, but extremely hard. I once again complained and he insisted that he food tasted good without really hearing what I had to say. I'm not the person to complain about how food tastes, but when it's cold and I'm paying well over $30USD, I want my food to be hot. Lastly, the manager/owner had a group of 4 of his friends sitting in a back corner. He made sure to check on that table constantly, however the rest of the tables including mine, only got the check-in from waiters. This is fine, but it makes sense to treat everyone the same, especially your money making customers.

I really enjoyed my time at Le Repaire! Our server, who goes by Jack was a wonderful host to us and we absolutely adored the food. The right portions. The right flavors and the staff kept the wine coming. We even stayed after close and our hosts were extremely gracious even though we know we were keeping them. The food is likely what you can find around Old Quebec, but the atmosphere and for our first meal in the area, it certainly impressed all at out table.

The food is okay but definitely overpriced and isn't that fresh. Although the place is pretty.

Cozy spot at the top of escalier casse-cou looking down on rue de pétit-champlain. Great people-watching spot.
